A Conversation You Need to Have Before Putting Your Home on the Market

By

Before you list your home for sale, be sure to tell your agent about everything you want to take with you when you move out.

For most buyers, it's usually things like light fixtures or window coverings that they don't want to leave behind. But I'll never forget I sold a house once, and when the buyers walked in, all the window blinds were gone -- the seller had removed them!!

Removing the blinds makes absolutely no sense…it's not like all windows in America are the exact same dimensions! I can understand maybe keeping curtains that go with a bedding set, or very expensive drapery that can be hung on any large window, but blinds? Are you kidding me? 🤯

Anyway, if YOU need to take something with you that normally stays behind (most things that you need to use a tool to disconnect from the house fall into that category), let your agent know so they can inform the buyer, and it can be included on all contract paperwork.

No one likes that kind of surprise on closing day!

Cari, I too had a home where all the window coverings were gone, and on the contract were included.    GREAT post.
