The Extra Mile

The Extra Mile

While I was picking up some things after Easter, I saw a box from The Bake Shoppe and Cafe here in Cypress.  It had held a to-die-for coffee cake, or might it have been a chocolate pie that was gone in minutes?!

This is what I saw on the top of the box…

It may not seem like a lot to you, but as a consumer, it hit me exactly where they intended to. It took time to write this on each box, and trust me...they sell a lot of baked goods.

I’ve had lunch there several times and had their cakes and pies. However, I never thought of ordering from them when I needed a birthday cake or other dessert.

I will now!!!

Going the extra mile often means who gets the contract or the customer. Whether you’re a small retail shop, a solo business owner, or a large corporation…or hey, an athlete…giving EXTRA…going beyond what everyone expects sets you apart from the others.

What are you doing to go the extra mile?

There are no traffic jams along the extra mile.

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.

I agree Roy Kelley it doesn't take much but it can make a difference.

The extra mile, or "wow" factor can make a huge difference in which business someone will select!

Kat Palmiotti I couldn't agree more. I've noticed more sales clerks at smaller boutique stores stepping from behind the counter to hand you your shopping bag. It's that little extra step.

It is the little things that do get noticed especially when competition is fierce. They succeeded with you at least.

Hi Kathy... I've always said I provide white glove service to my clients... and to me that means always going the extra mile. I love this quote: There are no traffic jams along the extra mile.

Nina Hollander, Broker I agree with the White Glove Service!!   You can stand out because so few want to go that far.

The little things really do mean a lot. Even the smallest act of kindness can make another person feel on top of the world.

What a great lesson. I start out training new agents with one phrase...Do not try and do one thing 1000% better than your competitors, do 1000 things 1% better. Go the extra mile in all parts of the transaction.

Kathy, that is a special treat.  Kind of like when you go to a restaurant, and the server writes, thanks for coming in!

Kathy in many cases it does not take much to go that extra mile, and impact someone in a special way.
