📉 Fewer Cash Sales in Charlotte
34% of Charlotte-area homes purchased in 2024 were bought with cash, down from 36.6% in 2023, data shows. Cash buyers — many of them investors — are pulling back after going on a pandemic-era shopping spree. The shift could indicate changing dynamics in the local housing market and reduced investor activity.
🌍 Charlotte to Host the 2027 Military World Summer Games
The International Military Sports Council (CISM) has awarded the 2027 Military World Summer Games to the United States, with Charlotte as the host city. This will be the first time the Games are held in the United States, projected to bring the state $3 billion in economic impact. Around 10,000 military athletes from over 100 countries are expected to compete.
The CISM Military World Games are held every four years, in the year before the Olympics. The goal is to foster friendship and peace among nations through sport. The Games feature 25 sports — a mix of Olympic events like swimming and basketball, and military-specific competitions like parachuting.
🏗️ New Construction Going Strong in the Charlotte Region
Several large-scale housing developments have recently broken ground across the area:
The Palisades – The Coves at Lake Wylie:
Taylor Morrison Home Corp. is building nearly 500 homes — a mix of detached units and townhomes — as the final piece of this master-planned community in southwest Charlotte.
Blankenship Near University City:
Castlebridge Residential Development has started work on more than 600 homes, including single-family units, townhomes, and condos, at Old Concord Road and Fairhaven Drive. Ryan Homes is the builder.
Astoria Townhomes:
Some 118 duplex and triplex for-sale townhomes will be built on 11.73 acres by Beauxwright. The homes will be 16 feet wide, though final pricing is not yet known. The project will preserve about four acres of tree canopy and ecological features and will be located within walking distance of the planned Silver LYNX light rail line.

Tega Cay and Fort Mill were both recognized by WorldAtlas.com as two of the best places to live in South Carolina in 2025.
In addition: Fort Mill ranked 8th among the most sought-after suburbs in the U.S. for 2025, according to MoveBuddha.com, based on inbound vs. outbound move search ratios. Fort Mill had a 1.67 move-in to move-out ratio, indicating strong interest from potential new residents. MoveBuddha, a site that compares moving costs, analyzed search data to find the most in-demand suburbs and small cities for 2025.

The Fort Mill School District is ranked the #1 school district in South Carolina for the third consecutive year by Niche.com. The Fort Mill School District was also ranked:

🏙️ Charlotte Among Top 25 U.S. Cities to Live In
Charlotte ranks #44 in Niche.com’s 2025 list of best cities to live in the U.S. The ranking reflects strength in factors like job opportunities, quality public schools, and relatively low crime. About 117 people move to Charlotte every day, drawn by its growing economy, diversity, and cultural offerings.
🛡️ Fort Mill, Tega Cay, and Clover Rank Among Safest SC Towns for Seniors
Three York County towns in the Charlotte region were named among South Carolina’s 12 safest for senior citizens by WorldAtlas.com:
Fort Mill (pop. 24,521): Crime rate is 65.2% lower than the national average.
Tega Cay (pop. 7,621): A quiet, lakefront community with a crime rate lower than 69% of South Carolina towns.
Clover (pop. 7,391): Offers both low crime and a below-average cost of living, making it a strong choice for older adults seeking safety and affordability.
🛒 Target Store Opening in Indian Land, SC
A new 148,000-square-foot Target store is under construction in Indian Land, South Carolina at 5345 Crossridge Blvd., off Highway 521 near the North Carolina border. The store will anchor the CrossRidge Center, a major mixed-use development. Construction is underway, with a potential opening in October 2025, according to reports.
