The City of Charlotte is recognizing the vital role entrepreneurs and small businesses play in the local economy by hosting a variety of events throughout May in honor of Small Business Month. Charlotte’s celebration aligns with National Small Business Week (May 4–10), established in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy.

In her proclamation, Mayor Lyles said:  “When we support small businesses, we create jobs and help preserve the unique culture of our communities. The City of Charlotte proudly celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our city and reaffirms our commitment to helping small businesses succeed.”

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... it's all a continuous loop. As I said in my post, we Realtors are also small businesses. People we hire in our business from inspectors to plumbers to electricians, etc. are small businesses.

Nina, this is a wonderful initiative by the City of Charlotte to recognize and support its entrepreneurs and small businesses during Small Business Month! Highlighting their vital role in the local economy and culture is so important. The lineup of events, including #31DaysofBiz and the Crowns of Enterprise Awards, shows a real commitment to celebrating their contributions. And you're absolutely right – real estate agents are small business owners too! Supporting local businesses creates a strong and vibrant community.

Small businesses are a dying breed as they are being smashed by the franchisees. They do need the support.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 I'd like to think that small businesses are not a dying breed. You and I are small businesses... I hope we are not a dying breed! :) Plumbers, contractors, interior designers, electricians, etc. are more often than not small businesses, as well.
