I just listed an amazing property for sale here in South Pasadena, California at 1559 Diamond Avenue. The city is known for the preservation of historic homes - so it's not unusual to see a well preserved property from 1911 come to the South Pasadena real estate market here.
What is unusual is to find a property - any property - with a usable and virtually untouched span of land reaching across an entire city block. The lot measures 13,150 square feet. To give that some context, I am currently in escrow on another property in South Pasadena that is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home of 978 square feet on a lot that is just over 3,000 square feet. So you could fit 4 of those smaller properties onto just this single lot!
Further, the lot is gently sloping and it's in the flat and most developed part of South Pasadena. Literally every single lot in the area has been developed. This property has never had any structures at all in the rear portion of the lot.
If you'd like to get a complete picture of just what I'm talking about - you can check out the video tour below.
The house is absolutely epic and authentically preserved from 1911. There are so many original details. There are very well crafted built-ins, original light fixtures, original windows, and even an original pull out bed built into a wall.
At 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which occupy the 1,646 square feet of living space, the home feels bigger than it is. There is a very large front porch area and a basement (somewhat rare in Southern California). There is also an outdoor covered porch area just off the rear French doors which expands the living area in an indoor / outdoor arrangement.
This home has been an absolute joy to show. When visitors see the additional extra huge lot area they are completely blown away. I constantly hear "wow" under their breath as they look out on the land. It literally looks like a state park with large mature trees in a totally natural environment.
This coming weekend will be the last opportunity for potential buyers to view the home prior to offers being reviewed. I'm certain that the buyer will be absolutely ecstatic to have purchased this South Pasadena gem.
