Matthews Summerfest 2025 Returns May 9–10 with A New Name, Fresh Vibes, and Two Days of Family Fun

A much loved Matthews tradition is getting a new name and an exciting update. The Town of Matthews’ annual summer festival, previously known as BeachFest, has been rebranded and is now Matthews Summerfest, presented by Novant Health – Matthews Medical Center. The 17th annual celebration will be held at Stumptown Park on Friday, May 9 (6–10 PM.) and Saturday, May 10 (10 AM–10 PM).  Stumptown Park is located at 120 South Trade Street in Matthews.

 

 

Admission is free. There’s a cost for rides and other activities. On Friday night you can get a $30 wristband for all-you-can-ride night in the Carnival. Please note that no pets are allowed.

 

Fun for All Ages at Matthews Summerfest 2025

Matthews Summerfest 2025 offers entertainment and activities for the whole family, including:

  • Carnival rides and games
  • Food trucks
  • Arts & crafts vendors
  • Commercial exhibits
  • Live music on the main stage
  • Shag dancing

New in 2025: Expanded Musical Lineup

This year’s festival will feature a variety of live performances across multiple genres, including:

  • The Catalinas – Beach
  • Spiderwebs – No Doubt Tribute
  • The Next Level Band – Motown/Top 40
  • Smokey Jones & The Three Dollar Pistols – Classic Country
  • Blackwater – Beach/Blues/Funk
  • Captain Mike & the Shipwrecked – Jimmy Buffett Tribute

 

Early Carnival Access

The carnival kicks off early on Friday at 4 p.m., giving guests extra time to enjoy the rides before the festival officially begins. Tickets and wristbands will be available for purchase.

 

Craft Beer Garden

Local favorites Seaboard, Southern Range, and Edge City breweries return in 2025, serving craft beer to guests 21 and older. Drinks can be enjoyed within the festival’s designated area, covering Stumptown Park and the closed section of S. Trade Street.

 

Parking, Traffic and Street Closures
  • Public parking lot: North Trade Street across from Matthews Station Street

  • On-Street parking on North Trade Street

  • Matthews Town Hall, 232 Matthews Station Street

 

To ensure a safe and festive atmosphere:

  • Trade Street (between John Street and McDowell Street) closes Friday at 9:00 AM
  • The closure extends to Main Street at 3:30 PM
  • Streets will reopen after the festival wraps up late Saturday night
