đ 5 Places to Catch a Sunset This Spring in Oconee County
One of the best parts about living in the Western Upstate of South Carolina? We donât need to go far to find a view worth stopping for. Spring is the perfect time to slow down and take in a sunset â and if you're wondering where to go, here are five of my favorite places to watch the day wind down.
1. South Cove County Park â Lake Keowee
Set right on Lake Keowee, this park offers gentle waves, quiet picnic spots, and beautiful west-facing views. The sunsets here reflect off the water like a mirror â perfect for a peaceful evening.
2. Sassafras Mountain Tower
The highest point in South Carolina offers 360° views â and yes, the sunsets up there can be absolutely jaw-dropping. Bring a light jacket and someone to share the moment with.
3. Jumping Off Rock â Lake Jocassee Overlook
Remote, wild, and breathtaking. If youâre up for the drive (and the gravel road), this is one of the most iconic views in the Southeast. Sunset here feels like stepping into a painting.
4. Chau Ram County Park
Catch the sunset from the bridge or down by the water. Itâs a local favorite for photographers â and youâll see why when the light hits the river just right.
5. Scenic Hwy 11 Pull-Offs
Sometimes the best views are the unexpected ones. Keep an eye out along Highway 11 â youâll find pull-offs with pasture views, mountain silhouettes, and skies that seem to go on forever.
Whether youâre visiting or considering moving, Oconee County offers a front-row seat to some of the best sunsets in the South.
