Carlsbad's 1st Creative Cultures Arts Festival
World Day for Cultural Diversity is celebrated on May 21 and has been since 2002.
To recognize this special day, Carlsbad will be holding its first Creative Cultures Arts Festival on Saturday May 17th. The festival will be held at the Carlsbad Library Learning Center at 3368 Eureka Place from 12 noon until 2:00 pm. The festival is free to attend. Carlsbad continues to grow in its support of, and dedication to, the arts!
The Creative Cultures Arts Festival will feature a number of hands-on arts activities reflective of diverse cultures around the world. These include:
- African quilt making
- Making bookmarks
- Stone weaving
- Decorating Lithuanian blown eggs (Margučiai)
- Persian woodblock printing
- Making Glagolitic scripts (Slavic alphabet)
The Creative Cultures Art Festival will also showcase music and dancing performances representing varied cultures – Egyptian, Persian, Vietnamese, and Azerbaijani.
What a fun way to celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity (the full name is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development).
