Wordless Wednesday…Oh, What a Tangles Web…

Since as early as I can remember, I have been fascinated by spider webs.  I’m not overly fond of spiders, but their webs rival many engineering feats.

One of the benefits of early morning walks, especially when it is foggy, is that the webs make their presence known. They’re always there…it takes the perfect lighting to see them.

Take a look…

When spider webs unite they can tie up a lion,
(Ethiopian proverb)

The next time you see a spider web, please, pause and look a little closer. You'll be seeing one of the most high-performance materials known to man.
Cheryl Hayashi

Wherever there is faith as slender as one strand of the spider’s web, there the fullness of redeeming grace is active.

Good morning Kathy. I often thought about spider webs when I was in business and had to figure out problems. If you untangle one part are you tangling another part? Somehow thinking of a web help the untangling process. Enjoy your walks and the fascination of the spider's web.

Wayne Martin I videoed a spider spinning its web once. I'll have to find the video.

Kathy, The structure of a spider web is such a marvel with each strand connected in ways that aren’t obvious. Nature really knows complexity!

I totally agree - they are amazing! I remember one morning years ago we were starting a hike while it was still early. The field we had to pass through on our way to the forest was covered with spider webs. They must have been so busy over night building webs - there were no bugs who flew through there who would have been safe!

Kat Palmiotti that must have been some sight!!!  And if you think about it...they're always there. We just may not see them.

I love seeing spiders webs, not walking through them though. I saw many on my early morning starts on the Camino.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 I'm the same way. I don't like having them on me. I wonder if spiders along the Camino build similar webs.

In Cinco Ranch (Katy, TX) they have a very long nature walk through swamp and other landscapes. I remember seeing a web with one of the largest big black spiders I have ever seen. was amazing.

Kathy spiders never seem to get discouraged no matter how many times you take down their webs.  They just keep on rebuilding them.

No kidding George Souto And, it's amazng how quickly they can rebuild them.

Kathy, I think the most interesting spider web I have ever seen was in Costa Rica.   Of course, it rains A LOT, but those webs were FEET wide, some several.

Hi Kathy:

I am definitely not keen on spiders but admit admiring their web mastery, especially if it's highlighted by dew. I try to not get to close for fear of running into the creator F2F. Those are pretty awesome webs.

Here's one I found in my photos.

Jeff

The webs that spiders are able to weave are surely amazing, but I don't like unexpectedly walking through a spider web, haha.
