CHROMEBOOK BASICS FOR SENIORS

Friday, May 23, from 3-5 p.m., Clubhouse II

This introductory class is for seniors looking to get hands-on experience with Chromebooks. Free, but registration is required at the Lifestyle office in either clubhouse.

 

ABBA TRIBUTE BAND

Friday, May 23, at 7 p.m., Clubhouse II Auditorium

Get ready to relive the magic of ABBA with Dancing Dream, a tribute band that brings the Swedish supergroup’s iconic hits to life with soaring harmonies, dazzling costumes and high-energy choreography. NOTE: This event is sold out.

Boogie Lou brings a jet fueled tour de force of Rock, Funk and Rhythm & Blues with a PhD in partying! OUTDOOR POOL OPENS FOR THE SEASON

Daily, Beginning Saturday, May 24, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Behind Clubhouse I

The outdoor pool and locker rooms behind Clubhouse I open for the season starting Memorial Day weekend and remain open through Sunday, Sept. 7. The pool is open daily, including holidays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Use is free for residents with valid Leisure World IDs. Guest passes are $8 for adults and $5 for children and must be purchased in advance. Seasonal locker rentals are $20 and available at the Lifestyle office in Clubhouse I. Children ages 4-15 may swim from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month, but must be accompanied by an adult.

 

PRO SHOP MEMORIAL DAY SALE

Saturday, May 24, through Monday, May 26, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Golf Pro Shop

Saturday, May 24, from 7-10 p.m., Clubhouse I Crystal Ballroom

Dance the night away with excellent music specially selected by Master DJ Thomas Bevans. Sponsored by the Ballroom Dance Club. Advance registration required; payment is $15 cash at the door. 

 

MOVIE: ‘YOU’RE CORDIALLY INVITED’

A father and his daughter’s wedding plans are thrown into chaos when the venue accidentally double-books them with another bride. Free, but registration is required at the Lifestyle office in either Clubhouse I or Clubhouse II.

 

SUMMER CONCERT: CHANCEL & GOSPEL CHOIRS

Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m., Inter-Faith Chapel Sanctuary

Enjoy a rich blend of vocal, instrumental and dance performances during the Inter-Faith Chapel’s second summer concert featuring the Chancel Choir, Gospel Choir, Inter-Faith Ringers and Generational Joy Dancers. This free concert is open to all residents and guests; donations are welcome to support summer concert programming.

 

EN PLEIN AIR

Wednesday, May 28, 10 a.m., Community Gardens

Join the Rossmoor Art Guild for a real plein air experience painting outdoors. Member Michael Higgs will meet residents at the garden gate. The event is free but registration is required by calling Michael at 240-731-2787 by Friday, May 23.

 

CYBERSECURITY FOR SENIORS

Thursday, May 29, from 1-3, Clubhouse II Auditorium

Learn how to protect yourself from scams, fraud and digital threats during this important seminar led by cybersecurity expert and resident Seth Hammerman. Sponsored by LW Tech. Free, but registration is required at the Lifestyle office in either Clubhouse I or Clubhouse II.

 

CARIBBEAN STEEL DRUM BAND

Thursday, May 29, at 4 p.m., Clubhouse I Lanai

Enjoy a festive evening of Caribbean rhythms and island energy as the Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band brings its vibrant sound to Leisure World. Food trucks offering seafood, pizza and ice cream will be on site. Tickets are $20 and available at the Lifestyle office in either clubhouse.

AMERICAN REVOLUTION’S GAY PATRIOT

Saturday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m., Clubhouse II

Join the LGBTQ+ Alliance for a Pride Month kickoff featuring historian Richard Bell, who explores the life and legacy of Baron von Steuben, a key military leader of the American Revolution and openly gay figure.  Admission is $5 (check only, payable to LW LGBTQ+ Alliance). Registration is required and available at the Lifestyle office of either clubhouse.

The Nite Runners, a quintet of veteran Maryland musicians, play danceable classic rock hits. Join Rossmoor Art Guild president Judy Kirkland for a presentation on Edward Hopper, whose iconic work like “Nighthawks” captures themes of modern life, solitude and observation. Sponsored by the Center for Lifelong Learning. This is event is $5 and can be paid at the door by cash or check. Registration is available at the Lifestyle office in either clubhouse.

 

MOVIE: ‘HONEYMOON CRASHERS’

Wednesday, June 4, at 1:30 p.m., Clubhouse II Auditorium

When his fiancée dumps him at the altar for her ex, a young man is left with no alternative but to go on his romantic honeymoon with his mother. Free, but registration is required at the Lifestyle office in either Clubhouse I or Clubhouse II.

Thanks Roy, Since you live in the Montgomery County area, I'm sure you're well aware of all the activities that Leisure World offers. It's a great community with lots of housing styles and a broad range of pricing as well.
