If I had to start my real estate career over again........

If I had to start my real estate career over again........

What would I do?  Anything different?  More of the same?

I don't think I would change too much, because I've had a very rewarding career so far.

HOWEVER, there is one thing that I would definitely change:  Being FEARLESS.

When I first started out, I was so afraid of making a mistake that there was a good amount of time where I felt self-paralyzed.  My actions were more reflective of not making a mistake more than they were about just wearing my heart on my sleeve and allow the fates to take me where they must.

Don't get me wrong - I worked HARD.  VERY HARD.  There were times when I was working 70-hour work weeks.  At my present age, I could not sustain that kind of intensity.  But I am grateful for the rewards that time period has brought me.

I started as a mentee in a large brokerage, and they had all the support resources one could want.  So in hindsight, I really had not much to fear.

Other than that, I probably would have followed the same course because after my first couple of years, I reached the point where my knowledge of contracts, client profiling, real estate loans and real estate law had become fluent enough where I started to feel pretty fearless.

Hello Ralph... I think many of us were somewhat paralyzed by fear when we first started out. It's only normal.

Good morning Ralph,

Thank you for sharing what you would do over in your real estate career. Fear can be debilitating but some fear isn't all bad. Sometimes we can exhibit no fear and be overconfident which can lead to unintended consequences!

Hi Ralph- many of us walk the safe path. We do well but wish we had strayed a little down the "fearless" path.

Starting in the business does cause one to have doubts especially when the brokers give the speech about the cost of mistakes and the liability that could become costly.

Fearless is a great word and a wonderful attitude. Too many people get caught in the fear factor and never move forward.

Ralph Gorgoglione I was determined when I started to be successful my first broker taught me the best way not to make a mistake twice was when it cost you money . I only made a mistake once. The rest were errors ..lol  -- So glad Kathy Streib  featured this as I missed your post
