Memorial Day 2025 Remember Those That Paid the Price
We watched the Memorial Day Concert last night on PBS It was emotional as they had set the show to have storylines given by award winning stars that presented the real-life accounts of heroes from WWll, Korea, Viet Nam and the Middle East.
At the end of each presentation these people walked away from the podium to greet the heroes they had just honored.
They used the phrase, Gold Star to recognize those that had fallen in battle.

I was once told a story by my father, a WWll Navy veteran, who lived with an aunt in New Bedford, MA prior to enlisting in 1942.
That aunt had 3 sons of her own each of which had enlisted in the service.
Recognition was shown when families with sons in the war put starts in their windows to show that they cared.
That aunt put up the 3 for her own as well as 2 more for my father and his brother, who enlisted in the Army, and was in the 3td Armored Div, Patton's Corp.
All 5 came back home after the war. No visible scars, but not a one every talked about their experience.
In the special, they described, in some detail, the records of those they honored.
Today, we honor the memories of those that paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Freedom is not Free
