LAW of GREED (yes it rules if you let it)

This is a bane, a curse on mankind that eats us alive if we let it go unchecked. You see, greed is like a voracious animal that cannot be satisfied with a snack or even a meal, but instead, must continue to gorge & gluttonize its way in YOU to survive. It feeds off of you as you feed off of it. At some point, it takes over & remakes the user for the worse. We have all seen & experienced greedy people, including our own greed. We can all agree that it is not normal or heart-driven & is a cruel taskmaster.

JAILS & PRISONS

In my counseling session with inmates, prisoners, arrestees & the like, they couldn't or didn't stop themselves, but instead, needed an uncompromising, strong outer force to stop them. Their inner force was compromised. GREED ran rampant, dominated & would not stop until a greater force arrived.

HUMANS RELY ON HUMANS

If you have raised children, supervised people, & have had to correct or point out they need correction, then you know how hard it is to reason & dialog with the unreasonable. We know if they are not stopped, it will & does get worse. A person's will is a very difficult dynamic when it becomes willful. No one can control it

I'M NOT GREEDY?

1. Famous last & ongoing words. Think it can't happen to you?

2. You may indeed not be greedy in one category, but what about others?

3. Another's greed can be contagious to you in an unexpected moment

LUST IS GREED

Sex is part of our lives & love often travels side by side, distorting when it does as sex is not love. Love is love & sex is sex. Excess in this area is greed, plain & simple. In fact, add over-eating, or overdoing anything, is greed-driven. Still not greedy?

WHAT DEFENSE do we HAVE?

Self-control is no myth. Satisfaction & contentment hold worthy positions in our lives. Knowing when enough is enough is a virtue that builds character with honor. Moderation, sampling, inquiring & exploring keep us in control NOT greed!

WORTHY NOTE: Moderation is defined as being reasonable, avoiding extremes that exceed normal or acceptable behavior. Moderate yourself & enjoy doing it

FEAR FUELS GREED

Fear distorts & interferes with our simple, ordinary, & enjoyable process of living our lives in that if, we allow fear to assist us, we want & take more than we need to satisfy the fear of not having or running low or out of something necessary to us

WORTHY NOTE: Can you imagine cities, states & countries operating out of fear?

HOW CAN GREED BE A LAW?

In the post title, we refer to greed becoming or being a law in its nature. Let's first define what LAW is to better understand. LAWS: Help us maintain social order, protect individuals & resolve disputes while promoting fair play.

LAWS & LIES of GREED

The current image has no alternative text. The file name is: pexels-photo-6266297.jpeg

Greed has its creed, i.e., anything goes, the end justifies the means, arrogant indifference to everything, tunnel vision focus, greed ends your fears, more intensity in pursuits, vanity driven, me first always, need more than enough, story-telling, self-deceit, lies allowed, I'll do good afterwards, everyone else doing it, endless what-if's, character sacrifice, oblivious to others, never satisfied, no closure, self-righteousness, cold-hearted & so much more that a book is required for this

BY COMPARISION

Doing the right thing, having humility, being less willful, and being mindful of others requires no maintenance or effort, just participation. All are welcome, too. You see the right way, the natural flow & the law of abundance & charity work for you, making you a better person via your character. A little child will lead them

WORTHY NOTE: It has been said that the only thing you leave here with is your character. Imagine that?

WANTING & NEEDING

All is allowed, available with nothing being impossible, with a caveat thrown in: Moderation runs the show. Stewarding comes to mind. My parting thought to ponder: It is not what a person has, but how they came to have it. How matters!

Ten cents or ten million, it is all on loan, lent to us, for our use. Be a good borrower

Richard - your post captured my attention!  The post reminds me of the TV Show, "American Greed."  If you watch it, greed is out of control but ALWAYS has a negative consequence or consequences and a lot of people get hurt on the way. I've seen a lot of greed in real estate. The BY COMPARISON section of your post summarizes the opposite force of greed; it's what we should all strive for.  Thanks for sharing.

What an interesting post!  I am in agreement with most of the content.  Especially when claiming that fear is the root of greed.  I've learned that to be the case as I've grown older and observed.
