A little kindness goes a long way. This is true with pets, children, spouses, friends and clients alike. Lately I've been dealing with a friend who has gotten into financial trouble. She is a small business owner who has overspent and it's everyone's fault except for hers.
She is in a panic and has asked me to cosign a small loan for her. I know this is a BIG no-no but I want to help her out. When ever I ask a question regarding the loan she has no answer and jumps down my throat. Again I like this woman and want to help but she is making it impossible for me to justify the loan.
Tying this scenario to the cartoon above: if only she would treat me kindly I'd have cosigned that loan a week ago. To be demanded to help, cursed at, and even threatened is a really poor way to ask for help.
Most people, including myself, want to help out a friend in need. Knowing HOW to ask for help can make a world of difference.
