Friday Flags: A Brisk Breeze for the Senior League in Watertown CT

The Golf course at Crestbrook Park is a very challenging test of abilities and one that I called my home course for almost 40 years.  As I prefer to walk when I play, I can't manage to do 18 and have changed locations.

However, many of the people that I do know from the days there are also among those participating in the Senior League, which plays every Wednesday AM.

A shotgun start with 88 players promptly at 8:30 AM

There are 2 divisions, A Div for players with a 9-hole handicap of less than 11 & a B Div for the higher handicap players. and I am in the A div and last year we competed for the league Championship and came up 1 shot short.

This week, there was a brisk breeze so the flag offered directions and my photo-op.

With all the moisture this spring, it has been tough to score, and as my partner says, we'll wait for the second half.

It is still a tough course, and I wish my legs would allow me to play it more often, but the healthy part is walking.

Good morning, Ed... for sure Old Glory was "posing" for you. I'm sorry to hear you had to change locations after so many years.

Nina Hollander, Broker   It's to be expected. I always walk when I play unless the course requires carts, as resort courses do.

I can't walk 18 here anymore as the hills got steeper and longer.

Good morning Ed. Nature is watching you and your photography of flags. They turn up the breeze when you approach so you get the right shot! Now if they would turn it down when you are swinging the club it would, I am sure, be appreciated by you. Hit them straight and putt with a sharp eye.

That was a brisk wind that allowed you to get a great photo! Thanks for sharing, and walking really is a great way to get some exercise!

Hi Ed,
I always love to see the flags flying on Friday!  Our flags have been flying at half mast in honor of the three little girls whose father allegedly killed them. The manhunt is still on for him.

Such a beautiful sight Ed!  Our flag flying high in the sky.  As for walking a round of golf, we used to do that at an executive course and I so enjoyed the walking.  Now I'd be happy to simply ride around in the cart and watch Gary play.  Some day I'll get back out there!

Happy Father's Day Weekend!!

Ed I am not good enough to be in the "A" group, but I had my best round of golf today!  ☺️

Hi Ed- good for you for getting out there. It's not only the walking that is healthy but also the socialization you get. I took golf whtn I was at UH and was a miserable failure.

Sorry about the change for you but sounds like it's necessary. And the wind gods were favoring you once again.
