JUNE IS NATIONAL HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH 🏡🗝️

REASON #4 TO OWN A HOME, NOT RENT

YOU WANT MORE LIVING SPACE TO MOVE AROUND

Needing more living space is a good reason to own your own home

Are you starting to feel like that proverbial "goldfish in a bowl?" Is your current space is feeling tighter by the day? It might be time to consider purchasing a home of your own.

If expanding your living space is on your mind, here are some important factors to consider:

Family Size:

Is your family growing — or likely to grow soon? Will you eventually need to accommodate an elderly parent? Be sure to choose a home that will suit your needs not just now, but for the next 7 to 10 years, so you don’t find yourself outgrowing your space too quickly.

Lifestyle:

Do you love to entertain? Host frequent out-of-town guests? Do you have hobbies or interests that require dedicated space? If you work from home, do you need a quiet, functional home office? Consider how your home should support the way you live and work.

Priorities:

What features matter most to you? A spacious kitchen, larger bedrooms, open entertaining areas, or outdoor space for kids and gatherings? Unless budget isn’t a concern, you’ll need to prioritize which elements are must-haves and where you’re willing to compromise.

Physical Needs:

Will you need a bedroom on the main floor? A home without stairs? Wider doorways to accommodate a wheelchair? Thinking through any current or potential physical needs now will help ensure your next home will continue to meet your requirements well into the future.

Nina, that goldfish bowl vibe may be hitting home to many so June’s Homeownership Month is a solid push to think about buying!

There are definitely a lot of reasons purchasing a home might be an idea whose time has come! It could also be the opposite - time to downsize!

Kat Palmiotti good morning, Kat... of course, you are right. I'm trying to focus my message to people who've not yet owned a home so I was guessing that those would mostly be people who need more, not less space.

Nina Hollander, Broker - I didn't mean to take away from your message! Yes, people who don't have their own home yet and need more room would definitely benefit from buying a home vs continuing to rent!

Kat Palmiotti I didn't think you were doing that, Kat. No worries. :)

Home ownership continues to provide the best pathway to family wealth.

The first home we purchased is now worth over 10 times what we paid for it. We should have rented it rather than selling it when we moved.

Hi Roy... that's not the first time I've heard someone say that to me that they should have hung on to their home.

Good morning Nina. Timely post! The wife and I were discussing the issue yesterday. We had a great place in the sky in downtown Chicago but it became too small. Location, location, location. We found a townhome well beyond the geographical limits set for ourselves that met our space requirements and had a super kitchen. Do we stay our do we go? More space won and it has been one year. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin hi Wayne... priorities change over time. The most important thing is to identify your priorities.

Yet another reason for people in your area to purchase a home for themselves, but if one is working with Nina Hollander, Broker or Wayne Martin they should know not to show them homes with kitchens that have dark cabinets in them, haha.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty hi Jeff... renting is the answer on occasion, but it's not a great long term solution by any means for many people.

Nina Hollander, Broker I've never owned a home that I did not make adjustments to. I believe if our home was not engulfed in a flood we may not have seen the possibility to rebuild/remodel and make the same square footage so much better for our needs.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... so maybe that flood was a "blessing" of sorts.

Nina, I love having space, even if it is just me and the two kitties.   I invite people over, and don't want to be cramped.  I know you have lots of space, and you have a beautiful home.
