This is my second post for the AR challenge this month hosted by Debe Maxwell, CRS and Anna "Banana" Kruchten . I have noticed a theme develop this week with many people choosing to use their points for a charitable cause.
I have always been a generous person, a lesson learned from my Dad. I have already given points to Kathy Streib for her Literacy cause, but when I met Annie, I learned what it meant to be charitable. For someone who is as empathetic as her I think every charity in the world has our address. Our mail box is full nearly every day with requests for donations. These are for so many different causes. Animal Rights is a big one for her, she loves animals ands hates to see them suffer. But that is not the end of her causes, although it is a big part.
I have learnt to give more, maybe not as much as some people can give, but enough to make a difference, for clean water, World Central Kitchen who make no difference on who needs help, they are there.
So my cause for this week's use of points is to use my points to give to World Central Kitchen, that they might feed people around the world in need, in Ukraine, Gaza, Haiti, or just about anywhere there is a disaster of some sort where food is needed. It is amazing how they can organize so quickly and be on site as they were in Puerto Rico.
It has been going now for 15 years and they are a charity I support wholeheartedly as it is such a simple idea. Where there is a need send chefs and food so the people can eat, not tomorrow, today.
If you want to read the whole story, you can click this link: World Central Kitchen Story They also have a great cookbook which I got for my sister in law for Christmas with recipes from around the world for food and cocktails. It is a good book to read as well as browse for recipes with the stories behind the recipes.. You can find a link to the World Central Cookbook here.
Unfortunately AR points are not accepted for purchasing the cookbook, that takes real dollars, as does support for this wonderful charity. But if you feel so moved, I know they will go to good use.
