Fruit Trees in The Villages, FL

In 2008 I moved to Florida from the Pennsylvania Maryland area and the place I rented had an orange tree.  It was quite a thrill to just walk outside and pick an orange.  We have fruit trees all over The Villages, Florida and soon one of my goals to plant fruit trees.  But what to plant?  Here is what we can grow here:  Oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits, tangerines, tangelos, kumquats, bananas, avocados, apples, blackberries, blueberries, carambola, figs, lychees/logans, loquats, mangos, mulberries, muscadine grapes, peaches, nectarines, persimmons, pineapple, pomegranate, Barbados cherries, carissa/natal plum, miracle fruit, passion fruit, jaboticaba and pineapple guava.

My neighbor a snowbird had a peach tree planted last year and this was the first season with fruit, the tree was loaded.  I picked it for him, sliced and removed the pits then froze the peaches.  When he returns he will have his peaches, minus a few!

Rest assured I don’t want to be one of those people neighbors complain about having a jungle in their neighborhood or want to spend hours working in my orchard!  Thinking maybe two or three things not sure what yet, what about you what would you plant?

It would be nice to have a fruit tree or two in the back yard.

Have a great day!

If I could grow all those trees, I'd pick lemon, avocado, banana - but close behind would be oranges, peaches, grapes. Yummy!

I have apples and figs here - we'll see if they produce fruit in a year or so.

Thanks for sharing neighbor to the North! You should also look into a Jamaican Cherry or Strawberry tree, it's one of our favorites. Our dog even goes up and picks the ripe ones off.  I also have lemon, lime, Australian Finger lime, two banana varieties, two mulberry varieties, Jamaican cherry, jabotacaba, peach, olive, mango, and avocado trees. I tore our barbados cherries out, too tart for us.

When we spend time in the Orlando area, one of the trees we see is a loquat, which was a tree that my wife remembered as a child in Lebanon,
