Rain is grace; rain in the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life------John Updike, an American Writer of novels, poems, short stories, literature.
Thankful Thursday
Light rain continues to grace Flower Mound and much of North Texas. I nearly forgot I planted some lilies last year. Liz and Bill Spear will probably get a kick out of what happened yesterday morning. In between the rain and the sunshine, I thought I saw a monstrous bee through my kitchen window! I grabbed my camera and cautiously walked towards whatever landed. What a surprise it was to see this beautiful lily!
It’s funny how quiet things are when it rains lightly and there is no thunder. Only thoughts were pounding in my head. All life depends on raindrops, both gentle and heavy. The rain precipitates changes in plants and people's attitudes. When there are too many clouds, it clouds our vision. This most unusual color with the deep yellow center had me mesmerized! I love to attract bees but seeing a lily this big and beautiful brought a smile that lasted throughout the day.
Today There Are Three Including Buds
Something I observed over time is that when it rains in abundance, people have a strange way of withdrawing inward. It is as if taking shelter is very important. Or perhaps raindrops trigger sorrow. In nature, plants thrive! I am glad they are alive!!! If we don't get outside during the rain, we miss a lot of surprising opportunities. Even a short walk in the morning rain feels like cleansing. Last night was the full strawberry moon. It was too cloudy to see it last night. Yet I can't deny that in between the rain, sun, moon, and stars there is divine intervention of grace that continues as a blessing. Today is not just another Thankful Thursday, it is a day I am reminded of my core values, one of which is gratitude.
