Took the Ferry to Charlotte...

I thought that was a perfect title for today -- did you understand Nina Hollander, Broker ? I put in Burlington VT into my GPS took me from Lake Placid to a ferry in Essex. On the other side, I had to laugh, it was Charlotte (Vermont)!

It was fun driving those country roads out of Lake Placid, but again had no service.

Thinking back, only have been on one ferry - probably from Seattle to Victoria, so wondered how long this ferry would take across lake Champlain. 20 minutes! The state line is in the middle of the lake, so when I turned my car back in, it announced being in Vermont! WOO HOO! This is as far East as I am going!

Went to Stowe right away, and wow, lots of protesters everywhere in front of the court building! Traffic was backed up for miles! Saw a covered bridge, which was in GPS. This area was very similar to Lake Placid, hilly/mountainous and lots of trees. Gorgeous!

Going on a mid-day lake cruise on Sunday, should be fun. There is also the "tallest filing cabinet" on display pretty close to where I board the cruise, so will check that out.

OK, you're near Ben & Jerry's factory, go on that factory tour and grab some of that premium stuff! (You may have to push politics aside for a few minutes.)

I've been across that bridge as we use to ski at Mt Snow with my HS ski club. I'm not from Lake Placid ..I'm from Schenectady but we skied a lot at Lake Placid, Stowe, it's such a beautiful part of the country and you are flooding me with old memories! Enjoy!!

Hello Joan - your post made me think of ferry rides. Not particularly memorable but I recall a few childhood trips: the Balboa Island Ferry ride between Balboa Island and Balboa Peninsula in Orange County California where I grew up takes about three minutes (according to online sources, it's a distance about 800 feet). Thanks for providing the opportunity to recall it and online search which I may forget far too soon. Happy Road Tripping. . .
