Your house could be elevated with these minor design changes.

Have you completed your home's décor but still feel that something is lacking? Are you at a loss for what else to do? You might have missed a few areas (or surfaces). Although these sections won't make or break your house, they do present excellent chances to produce design elements that completely transform your location.

According to designers, here are eight areas you're neglecting to beautify.

The Entryway
Andrew Suvalsky, owner and director of Andrew Suvalsky Designs, a full-service interior design firm, says that since first impressions are key, it's crucial to adorn your foyer. Even in the smallest areas, he says, "I'm bullish on always creating a distinct sense of movement in an entry." "The mood of the entire house is established in the entryway. Whether coming or going, it's a place to pause, gather, and get ready.

What is the space's designer's secret? Add a console table, some seating (maybe a bench or chair), and a mirror above your console. "Having at least one or two of these components sets the scene and provides a chance to incorporate fashionable pieces that express your individual style," Suvalsky continues.

Basement
Although you may not give your basement much thought, it's a perfect spot to design visually appealing storage options, particularly if the rest of your house feels a little small. According to Dee Dee Taylor Eustace, founder of Taylor Hannah Architect Inc., "people forget the lower-level drop zone—you know, the basement." "Usually, it's filled with old paintbrushes, dirty shoes, and appliance manuals from items you no longer possess. What if it floods? Bid farewell to everything. You might be able to recoup some physical space if you organize it and make place for storage. You might even be able to update that outdated guest room that is overflowing with mismatched furnishings.

The Laundry Room

Eustace remarks, "The laundry room is another overlooked location." "It ought to feel as clean and new as the clothes that come out of it."

Remember, you don't have to shell out a lot of cash. It only takes a few easy improvements to have an impact. Eustace advises, "Install tile on the walls, hang your cottons, and allow space for pressing your sheets." "It doesn’t need to be fancy, but it should be functional and visually appealing."

Nightstands
Although many of us don't adorn our nightstands, interior designer Andrea Goldman of Andrea Goldman Design says it's a wise move. She advises, "Take a little more time to style your bedside table." "Going to bed at night and waking up the following morning with fresh flowers or plants, along with a pretty tray to hold jewelry, medicine, or water, is a lovely treat."

Powder Rooms
Powder rooms, also known as half bathrooms, are sometimes disregarded but can be a fantastic opportunity to try something different, according to Morgan Olsen, Thumbtack's interior design specialist. "Because it's a small space, it may be less expensive to try out bold wallpaper, a new console sink, or better lighting," she explains.

One strategy is to use finishes you adore in other areas, even if they don't match the rest of your design concept. Take advantage of the powder room to test out those design elements in a smaller space of your house, such an antique mirror or toile wallpaper.

The Ceiling
In recent years, adorning the ceiling has become one of the most popular design concepts. Olsen claims that although most people don't think about it, the ceiling may have a significant effect on a space. Dark ceiling paint can add coziness to a bedroom, particularly if it has high ceilings and lots of natural light. In addition to adding flair to the space, applying a bold wallpaper might even make the ceiling seem higher.

Hallways
Despite being a pass-through area, the hallway shouldn't be disregarded. Interior designer Melanie Bryant of Melanie Bryant Interiors says, "Clients often don't want to put energy there, but it matters when guests are walking from the front door to a powder room or bedroom." "I'll recommend a few framed items and a picture light that runs on batteries—that's all you need to complete it off. Adding a lovely runner or replacing a flush mount with a tiny pendant also makes a big difference.

Kitchen Islands

According to Bryant, you can be neglecting to style your kitchen island even if you remodel your kitchen. She claims that although kitchen islands are valuable real estate, individuals frequently neglect to beautify them. "It can feel purposeful rather than like a drop zone with a candle, a bowl of fruit, and a small arrangement."

Although it doesn't need much work, adding a few pieces of décor can have a significant impact on the design.

Good morning Christopher. After a year in our home I think we are about complete. My wife thinks we are not and never will be.  That said we are close with tweaks along the way with the exception of the laundry room where ideas are being considered. Enjoy your day.
