It has been a while since I participated in an AR Monthly Challenge.
Don't Pay the Ransom...I have Escaped!
And I am not using my points today for buying the next level of AR success...(or maybe I am)!!
Don't ask me why I have not participated recently...
I have a thousand excuses from being too busy at work to being a new Grandpa to having a daughter who had a baby New Years eve and then 3 weeks later had brain surgery...to 997 other excuses.
In all reality...I have had a very strong year ... and if I have to give up all the thousands of comment points... 971 Blogs and 57 Features and over 995,500 AR points... I would do it in a heartbeat for the news we got last week...more on that later.
Challenges are a fast and relatively easy way to earn points...and speaking as somone who has had a goal of reaching 1,000,000 points on AR...for many years...and if I had participated in the Challenges just this year of 2025...I would have already surpassed that number.
What the heck have I been thinking? I mean...the blogs of those who participate in the challenges are top notch and fun/educational to read!
A few decades ago I used to spend money like it grew on trees!
Now?
Now I have goals that Do Not include a money tree in the backyard...but planning for the Future...NOT MINE...but that of my incredible and awesome super-human wife, Robyn, and our kids, Jake and Jaime, and now Grandson Everett and maybe more to come!
Hey AR...I will sell you back the points you gave me in return for the positive results you have garnered financially from all of us who are members!

Ok...on a more serious note.
Long story short:
Spring 2024...found out our daughter, Jaime, was going to have a baby
Summer 2024...Daughter and her husband decided to do what we did and not find out if it was boy or girl until Birth!
Fall 2024... All is going well with our son, Jake...and he finally buys a reliable vehicle! Jaime is doing splendid during the last few months of child bearing! Robyn is busy getting ready to be a Grandma and me...I am excited to add Grandpa to my list of names.
December 31, 2024 Get a call that they are headed to the hospital and the baby is on it's way! 8:45pm....after a stenuous natural birth... a strapping baby Boy weighing in at just under 10 pounds was born...and the name of Everett Charles Kenton was chosen by Jaime and Kody. (of course...my smartass mouth said all his friends will call him Eck! Me...I call him Charlie!)
Smiles and laughter all around as Jaime was sore but in good spirits! Jan 1st was a fantastic day all the way around for everyone...and one of the best New Years eves ever!
Jan 2, 2025 Early morning call. Jaime had some type of seizure (NEVER had one ever before) and was in getting a scan done.
Boom...20 minutes later we were in the hospital room...scared almost to death.
Jan 24, 2025 Jaime had Brain Surgery at University of Colorado-Auschwitz hospital in Aurora, CO and they removed a large low grade 2 tumor from her front right lobe. Doctor swears he got it all!

TODAY- 6-20-25: Our online ZOOM meeting on June 9 was as incredible news as we could get! Still 100% cancer free after 5 months and NEXT cancer scan and then online meeting in late September. 
Jaime is still breast feeding and both her and Everett are doing fantastic!
SO....AR points Gods!!!! Take 'em if you want them or leave them and I will get that last 4,300 points or so to hit 1,000,000 points and become the 283rd member of AR to reach that plateau!
