Get Ready for Summer’s First Heat Wave

Montgomery County and the entire Washington metropolitan area is expecting the first heat wave of the summer beginning Monday, June 23. Continuing for several days, afternoon air temperatures are forecast to be in the upper 90s near 100° and overnight low temperatures will in the upper 70s to near 80°. Extreme heat affects the body's ability to regulate temperature, which can create dangerous conditions if appropriate safety measures are not taken. Heat may affect air quality, especially in urban areas, and may have a stronger impact on the elderly, children and sick persons.

We will be sharing that weather.  Being in the high 90s will be coming early this year. We expect that in August and September, not June or July.  Stay hydrated and keep your curtains/blinds pulled to ensure the heat stays outside. Have a great weekend.

Roy- I have always lived in the South. I'm still not used to the humidity and the high temperatures. Sometimes during the summer I want to move to Northern Norway for the summer months (lol).  

I have never seen an azalea in the pinkish colors. Great photos of the flowers.

Montgomery County has activated an Extreme Heat Alert from 12 pm Sun, 6/22 to 12 pm Mon, 6/23. Expect the heat index to be above 95 F. Stay hydrated and take precautions to protect yourself and pets from heat-related illness.
