How to spend my points, Option C

This month ActiveRain is hosting a challenge - ActiveRain Point Store - Points, Points, Points. Our challenge, should we choose to accept it, is to spend our points (1,000,000 points = $100,000) on any goals we want. We can spend them on the community, hobbies, retirement, personal, familial, altruistic goals or anything else that comes to mind. So here is my third option to how I might spend mine!

At the time I am writing this, I have about 2,675,000 points. As I mentioned with my first entry, I'm going to keep 500,000 so my ActiveRain account remains free. So that leaves me with 2,175,000. With my first option, I explored spending the entire $217,500 on a camper van. The second time, the money went towards free groceries for my community. This time I'm spending it on a family event.

Specifically, I am going to take my husband, our four sons, their significant others, and the two grandchildren on an unforgettable adventure.

What kind of adventure? One that will allow us all to explore new places, cultures and food.

So we're going to take a small, expedition-focused cruise. I'm thinking a vessel that has less than 100 guests. Something like a National Geographic-Linblad Expeditions cruise or a Viking Exploration cruise.

For purposes of this challenge, there are two different directions we might go in, but I just wasn't able to nail down the actual destination.

So we would do either an Antartica cruise or something warmer in Europe or the Caribbean somewhere.

This would not be a "typical" cruise that focuses on on-board entertainment with lots of food and time in the pool and shows/musicals.

This would be one that focuses on learning and exploring, while still enjoying. It would have to be a trip that has amazing food and drink, and perhaps even cooking or culinary adventures off board.

It would also have to include off board excursions to hike, canoe, swim, tour, helicopter, sight-see, take photos and do other interesting things. Enough so that at the end of the day, we all fall asleep happy and tired.

It would have to include on-board activities such as classes on how to better use your iPhone camera, or seeing guest photos from the day's activities or having a demonstration of historical activities of the culture where ever we are at the time.

And the good thing is, I wouldn't have to use all my points, even though I'd be paying for 12 people. In fact, I'd have enough to pay for the cruise as well as for dog sitter(s), garden tenders and souvenirs.

This trip would be one that would leave the entire family with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

And that is my Option C for using my ActiveRain points.
