Companies Claim to be "Green" But are they Really?

Seemingly every day, there is some large company touting their "Green" energy policies.  Great goal...but the implementation seems to be all talk and little benefit.  Today, I had to laugh when I had an Amazon delivery today.

I ordered 10 bottles of my favorite sweetener - flavored liquid Stevia.  I prefer this because Stevia is natural. It is an herb. HOWEVER, (I digress) in powder form it is processed much in the same manner as white, table sugar. Hence, UNHEALTHY. "Raw" sugar tends to be brown and it is much less "unhealthy" than processed sugar.

ANYWAY, our green firm, Amazon....sent the same flavor, from the same company, in three separate plastic bags.  Each bottle is 1 ounce. How does this "save" energy or efficiency?  Not to  mention the cost. Each packages was a huge plastic envelope...so yes it is recyclable but c'mon...we can do better!!

I remember a blog in which the creator laughed at current "green" strategies. He mentioned milk coming in glass bottles that are utilized over and over again. He menti0ned cloth diapers that are washed and used again - versus the landfill-stuffing disposables we all use today,

This leads to my moral of the day for business. Hypocrisy is rampant, noticed by most people and universally annoying to most. Keep it real!!

Paddy, you've hit on a critical point about "greenwashing"! Your Amazon example perfectly illustrates how companies tout eco-friendliness while their packaging practices reveal a different story. "Keep it real" is indeed the best moral for businesses. It's frustrating to see such hypocrisy in the name of "green" initiatives.

Thanks for sharing this eye-opening post, Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD. I really appreciate the way you highlight the gap between green claims and real impact. It’s a reminder that actions speak louder than words. Thanks for making us think! 🌱

Hi Paddy- I receive a shot every 2 months. It has to be refrigerated. The box it comes in is a a two-foot square box...for one little shot!!!

I also claim to be ''green'' and sustainable. We can try and make small modifications to our life styles to eat cleaner and have more energy efficient homes and cars. At least, we are trying to reduce our foot print :)

Well said Paddy! I see stuff just about every day that are ‘ eye rollers’. So much BS out there about ‘green ‘. That’s not to say we don’t do our part to recycle etc etc.  Some companies are out for $$$$$

I have read that half of the items people put in the recycleable garbage is not recylceable. See people putting cans and glass in plastic garbage bags not to mention other items.

Not only that Jeff, but since the recycle materials are inspected, when people throw out financial or confidential material, the sifters find it...who knows what happens at that point...not to mention recycle is meant to be "clean" recycle..washed and emptied

Good morning Paddy. Green in theory is not green in reality. It is what it is. Great conversation but little reality. Enjoy your day.

Hello Paddy - really green.  Or showing their true colors with a marketing strategy that reminds us that following the money often leads in another direction.
