I received a call a month or so ago asking me if I’d be interested in filling in at the Kalispell Visitor (Information) Center while the current Visitor Service Coordinator went on vacation. Sure! How fun is that? Of course, I didn’t know exactly what kinds of things happened at the Kalispell Visitor Center so here’s what I found out.
The Visitor Center answers all kinds of questions that visitors or relocation individuals would like to know. Things like:
Are you interested in information about Glacier National Park? For example, when do you need a special entrance pass, and when don’t you? How long does it take to drive from the West side of the park to the East side? What hiking trails are available, and where are they? Are they easy? Is there a shuttle through the park? What are the red bus tours, and how would I get one?
Or what about lodging? Are you looking for something special? Do you need an RV park or a bed and breakfast? Or do you want to know which hotels include airport shuttles?
What about getting around while you're here? Do you need to know what taxi companies serve the area, or whether Uber and Lyft are in town?
Perhaps you used to live in the area and are considering coming back to move into a retirement community. Are there any in the area? What about independent living?
And then there are events. Are you looking for something to do over the weekend, or maybe in a few months when you’re in the area? What’s going on in town?
We also have plenty of wineries, breweries, coffee shops, restaurants, and places that serve huckleberry-related items. Are you looking for somewhere to eat? We even have a Huckleberry Treat Trail where you can earn points and rewards by trying different huckleberry dishes or drinks.
Do you want to know general things about the area? Maybe about the weather or activities that can be done at various times of year?
Or perhaps you want to try rafting, kayaking, fishing, skiing, hiking, or any other outdoor activities, and would like some contact numbers.
Or you might just have a few hours to kill. What kinds of things can you do in the area in a short amount of time?
The Visitor Center can also send you information if you are calling from outside the area. For example:
Kalispell Visitor Guide - the 2025 guide includes information about Glacier National Park, travel tips, the Kalispell Parkline trail, lodging, events, Flathead Lake, museums, and more.
Maps - the Visitor Center has local maps, Montana road maps, and maps of Hungry Horse Reservoir with camping options.
Events - The Visitor Center can also provide a list of monthly events or information about special area events.
So feel free to call (406-758-2800), email (visitorcenter@kalispellchamber.com), or use the DiscoverKalispell website!
Or even better yet, stop by and visit the Kalispell Information Center, which is located at 2 South Main Street Suite 205 in Kalispell. The team there is ready to make sure you are greeted with a smile and that you leave with all your questions answered. In fact, the person who regularly handles the front desk has a name tag that says she is the “Director of First Impressions!” I can assure you your first impression will be great.
