From fireworks and barbecues to road trips and patriotic spending, July 4th is more than just a holiday—it's a full-blown national tradition.

Good morning Nina. Once upon a time I was a participant in helping the 4th with beer consumption but not this year. We will be part of the hot dog consumption with my son cooking them on the grill. And finally, we will be watching the town of Oswego fireworks at around 9:00PM. Enjoy your day.

I love reading through these statistics - we aren't going to do most of what's on here. We're not attending a fireworks show (it's not dark enough until 11pm and I can't stay up), we're not going to a picnic, I'm not having beer although yes to wine, there won't be hotdogs at my house, we're not buying patriotic themed merchandise, we're not traveling, inflation isn't impacting our plans, BUT.... we are going to a 4th of July parade, and we are celebrating at home, and we do fly our flag every day.

Nina Hollander, Broker - ~2.8 billion dollars is a lot of money to go up in smoke! The price is staggering. The meaning behind the celebrations that take place are good reasons for gatherings. I'm not one to enjoy celebrating in big crowds of people. The stats are unbelievable. I wonder if there will be cuts in the budget.

For families with children, it is a great experience. Personally, I will not be part of the herd. 

150 million hot dogs will be consumed...ewwww....and another stat...about half of those hot dogs will be consumed by Joey Chestnut at the Nathans hot dog contest in Coney Island. 

Nina, We'll be watching the fireworks on a relative's boat along a North Shore beach. I liked reading the list of the 'fourth by the numbers' and interesting to see all the stats!

Nina Hollander, Broker Looks like you have the Celebrations covered - I have to run out shopping. We are celebrating at the Delaire Landing Potluck Dinner, and everyone is bringing a dish. Later, Fireworks can be seen from the river. I am making ravioli lasagna

I received a notice this morning about the parade plans in our home community.

Hello Nina, The older I get not into fireworks any more, same as to drinking beer, I have to be mowing lawn and it must be hot for me to drink beer.  Now I know I will be during either hamburgers  or hot dogs on the grill.  Steaks are to expensive now.

Nina, WalletHub did go all out on their infographics, but you have lots of good stats for the Holiday.

Thank you for sharing this fascinating look at how Americans will celebrate their Independence Day, Nina Hollander, Broker. I really appreciate the detailed insights and fun facts. It's a great reminder of how vibrant and lively our national traditions are. By the way, as fas as I can tell, Massachusetts is the only state that bans all consumer fireworks. I guess they’re just not feeling the red, white, and boom! 😄

The numbers always blow my mind since it shows that there is an abundance of resources, so it boggles my mind that some people still have absolutely nothing.
