I rented my entire adult life until I married a real estate broker.  Of course it made sense because the Army moved me every 3 to 4 years.  And at the end of my life I may be a renter again for less maintenance, but for now building wealth in equity.

Don Baker hi Don... there are legitimate reasons for people to rent, whether long-term or short-term. When we lived overseas, we rented because my husband's company paid the rent as part of his compensation package. But, one can't argue the value of building wealth through ownership as you are now doing.

Nina Hollander, Broker - This is a great marketing idea! It boils down to economics. Who is a renter to trust? A credible Mortgage lender who will take a deep dive into your finances and let you know what you can afford or not afford at this time? Or trust some add that markets something like, rent now and get your first month free. Rental apartments are so small. If you get an affordable rental, where do you think you're going to put your furnishings and your stuff? A storage unit? That's like paying for two rentals and still not having enough room.

There are so many benefits to owning and you can explain this to your clients.

Nina, for 29 years I have been promoting buying property.  BUT, as I enter into a new chapter new years, will sell my home, and rent.   This way I won't be tied down anywhere, and be foot loose and fancy free.    Buying many years ago truly works, my house is paid off!

Brian England hi Brian... part of the problem these days is that for many first time buyers homes are unaffordable in many areas. We used to be able to say it was cheaper to own than rent and sadly that's not true anymore.
