Homage to My Passage
One thing often overlooked in life is utilizing The Golden Rule. An unbreakable truth taught me that people will treat you however you let them. From the time I was 10-years old, mowing lawns, I realized the value of hard work.
I never stopped making a living, through honest means. One boss ruled by rage, screaming at anyone in range to get attention and feel powerful. Years later, I learned he was deep into steroids; the outbursts suddenly made sense.
Another couple hovered over my shoulder while designing marketing and advertising materials, to ensure they hired the 'right fit'. When refusing to pay overtime for calculated hours, the U.S. Department of Labor settled that.
Then, came the broker, intent on me 'tweaking' another artist's logo for his supposed 'dream team'. I refused to go along with his steal-it-strategy. He went ahead and sent out all materials to be printed anyway and got caught!
Every experience left a mark but also lit the path. So, when an investor said he'd hire me if I had a real estate license...the spark ignited and a 💡 came on. Two weeks of crash-coursing through RE school, then taking the test. Voilà - I was official!
As a fully licensed Southern Utah real estate agent, for the first time ever, I was THE BOSS. Finally, I put my work ethic to use, set my hours, decided my self-worth, every commission check went into my pocket instead of padding someone else’s.
Looking back with regret isn’t my style. I’m grateful for breaking free from other people’s bad decisions and toxic habits that once put me in a hard place. Today, I am still blessed because of knowing that the harder I work, the luckier I become.
