In my last post, I spoke briefly about the importance of photography in marketing a home. I wanted to dig a little deeper on that topic. Below are 3 things to remember when coordinating professional photography for your listings. Again, this is not an all inclusive list; just something to consider:
1. Prepare the Stage Thoughtfully
Just as a fine clock cannot tick beneath a pile of dust, a home cannot shine beneath clutter. Clear countertops, smooth the bedding, and let the light in. While your family is important to you, you need to remember that you are creating a new space for a new family to call home. Removing overly personal details will clear the space and welcome Buyers inside. Each object in view should tell the same story: this space is clean, calm, and full of promise.
2. Choose a Photographer Who Sees as Well as Shoots
Not all who hold cameras know how to look. Choose someone who understands architecture, shadow, and story. A porch can be more than a slab of concrete—it can be an invitation. A window, more than glass—it’s a glimpse into what can be.
3. Mind the Light and the Hour
Photography is, in the end, the study of light. Schedule the shoot when the sun is soft—early morning or the golden hour before dusk. This is when a house feels most like a home: warm, familiar, full of potential.
In truth, we are not just selling walls and roofs. We are offering beginnings.
