So, you have no plans to move. I get that! But you want good neighbors. I get that too! If you are happy in your neighborhood, there are many things you can do to attract good neighbors. It starts with being a good neighbor yourself.
SUGGESTIONS FOR BEING A GOOD NEIGHBOR
- Be aware of who your neighbors are. Wave when you drive by.
- Pay attention to cars that drive through your neighborhood.
- If you see patterns of unusual behavior, call the non-emergency number.
- If a property starts running down, find out why and who lives there.
- Ask if your neighbor could use some help.
- Keep your property maintained.

HOW TO BE A BETTER NEIGHBOR
- Be more considerate.
- Be thoughtful.
- Be nice.
- Be happy.
- Be friendly.
- Be aware of your surroundings

HOW TO PROMOTE BEING A GOOD NEIGHBOR
- Be respectful of your neighbor's privacy.
- Pick up after your dog when walking through the neighborhood.
- Be approachable if a neighbor tries to talk to you.
- Teach your children to be mindful of others.
- Be aware of seniors in your neighborhood.
- Could your neighbors use your assistance or help?
- If a neighbor smiles at you, talk to them.
- Be a good neighbor. Don't be weird.

There are many ways in which you can engage in your community. During the month of October, many Fire Departments hold Open House. Get to know the people who serve your community. There are special events held year-round in many neighborhoods. This is a good way to meet new people. If you have an HOA Community, make sure you know their regulations and guidelines.

If you see a new house go on the market, don't be afraid to talk to the Listing Agent. Real Estate Agents love to talk about houses and can be very resourceful. You don't have to be interested in moving to talk to them, but if you are willing to learn more about the what's going on, why not talk to your local real estate agent? It's best to talk to agents who work in your area - they are the best source of information.
