Very profound words from Carol Williams describing August 2025's Active Rain challenge about a transaction that touched my heart.
There have been many, as with 27 years selling Towson real estate, I've been through so much with clients - good and bad, excitement and sorrow.
I had a seller reach out to me years ago. We actually lived on the same street for about three years but didn't know each other. She knew my neighbors who told her they thought I would be a good person to work with because of how I am as a person and neighbor.
This seller owned her father's home. She purchased it from him and lived with him to help while he wasn't well. She had moved home from across the country, brought her child with her, and they lived together with her father in this small house.
After her father passed away, she and her now-teenager wanted a fresh new start. This is when they called me.
I could see how much she gave of herself to others. She had picked up her life and moved to help both her child and her father at once.
And to help her child again, she was willing to do it again.
We listed and sold her house in Towson and she and her daughter moved out of town. I was relieved for her and wished the best for her and her child.
A few years later, I got a call from her, surprising me. Her daughter had thrived in that new environment, and was doing well now that her schooling was over.
My past client wanted to move back to Maryland, but in a different location since she was going to be working up near the Delaware line.
We found a new construction community, and she built the house of her dreams. She got to choose all of the finishes, the location was perfect, and this was something, finally, for HER. I was so happy to be a part of that for her.
Then I got another call a few years after that - she was GETTING MARRIED! She didn't want to sell her house just yet, but she was moving in with her fiance' and wanted to rent her house.
She rented it for awhile, and we were in touch with each other every few months.
We sold that house a few years ago, and she is still happily married. Her daughter is doing well as an adult, and is living out of state. My heart is so happy that she is finally able to do things for just her...and her happiness shines through.
Sometimes we get to be a part of a few different eras of someone's life. I am so grateful she has allowed me to be a part of some of those significant eras.
