It was early Friday morning when I received a call on my cell, "I need you and you wife, Ginnie, to leave with-in the hour!" "Where do we need to go?" "Americas Georgia," was the answer.
I am also a Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster. My wife, Ginnie, is an Agent Advocate. She assists in Catastrophe claims. With in the hour, March 9th, we had changed hats from Home Inspector to Catastrophe Adjuster, and were on the road to, tornado devestated, Americas Georgia. Enterprise Alabama had lost 8 when a Tornado hit the High School. That's all we had heard on the News, before we went to bed. The destruction continued across the Alabama/Georgia State line with a mighty fury.
We had spent 10 months in New Orleans after the Katrina/Rita hurricains but the Power of Nature was not more evident than here in Americus. An explosion of Nature had occurred. This Tornado had come to town and was angry! Very Angry! The good new is, if you can truly say good news, only two men, Husbans, Dads, lost there lives.
We spent 9 days working for Allstate Insurance. What a "Great" job this company did in their quick response to this awful act of nature. President George Bush honked at us as he passed by. Ginnie and I also had the opportunity to stay at the "Plains Bed and Breakfast" where the former President, Jimmy Carter and the former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter came to a Cottage Prayer Metting for there church. It was exciting to shake the once most powereful man in the world. President Carter was so kind to have his picture taken with us.
We are home, back at the Art of Home Inspection, once again.
