On Labor Day. . .
This September day finds me reminiscing. Not about the dog days of summer coming to an end but of labor and more appropriately about today, Labor Day.
Doggone it, the season is not over yet - right. No need to rush things. And while my days laboring in real estate-speak are a part of my past, I also think back a bit further to a particular junior high school history class experience.
Obviously, that recollection of a classroom debate about labor seems appropriate today. Our teacher, Mr. Page had all of the students choose sides. I sat by the sidelines for a bit as I watched an overwhelming number of students pull their chairs towards the rapidly increasing “against” organized labor union circle of students. Mind you as an eighth grader, I don’t recall any particular feelings one way or another on the subject.
Did I select the side which ended up with only three gathered for a reason. It’s moments and days like these that can be important. At least I think there may be some relevance. Thoughts of the past combine with the reality of the present along with days-yet-to-come that can cause additional reflection and a lot more pondering. I don't recall the outcome of this debate at Trident Junior High nor in everyday life today, but I know discussions of many sorts continue to be a part of everyday life.
May this month bring you an abundancy of opportunities. Reflecting, pondering, participating, or however you choose to spend it.
Happy September.
