Ask An Ambassador: How Do You Get The Buzz?

By

Bees have their own language.  Wiggles, movements, sounds, flight patterns, all combine to communicate to other hive members key facts.  I found some food, it's THIS way, and about THIS far, let me take you there!

Our beehives have been temporarily with another beekeeper since March.  We'll get them back after our new home is finished and we move.  We've had some frames packed with honey waiting to be harvested for some time and this weekend was a work weekend for us.  We uncapped the frames and ran them through the extractor and yielded about 7+ gallons of honey.

When we're done, there are remnants.  Wax pieces, honey that doesn't drain, etc. and if we put them outside it's just a matter of time until we see a bee, then another, and before you know it 1000s are cleaning up the extra!  The bees are coming from out of the woods around our home, probably from past swarms from our own hives.  They're pretty good about getting the word out and bringing their friends and within a day or two everything will be cleaned up.

In our business, it's critical to get the buzz, both coming in and going out.

Coming in, we need information.

New construction, market shifts, changes in business models, local news that impacts the real estate market, and yes, even the macro stuff that might influence local markets.

Going out, we need to be able to generate positive buzz about us.

Reviews, IDX pages that get found, social media, word of mouth, etc.

You've got to generate buzz to keep your business prospering!

What's your favorite way to generate buzz?

Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help,

The bees were very active this past weekend in Flower Mound. In between all the rain we've been having and long periods of drought, my garden doesn't look so good, but the bees are swarming as if they are all relocating to my garden! I got stung removing vines 3 times - one on my face, two on my hands. That was the done my local bees that never try to sting me. I didn't even know they were hidden in the Morning Glory vines. The one in the picture was a huge bumble bee. I haven't seen a bumble bee in years!

You have certainly been busy like a bee with the preparations for your move! I'll bet there is a lot to do, and you can't wait to get your bees situation on your new property.

Bee stings definitely smart for a bit, then for me, itch as they heal.  We use lavender oil on stings when we get them.  We could use some rain here too!

Good morning Bill. You can learn much from nature if you ponder it. Like your analogy to the real estate business. Keep the buzz.

We need the consumers to find the buzz and give us a call.

Excellent analogy although I have to admit to finding the section about bee buzz much more interesting than the marketing buzz. Buzz is needed for both actual bees and real estate professionals!

Tonight we had to play "catch a bee"!  They usually go home as night comes, but for some reason quite a few were on our glass back door.  I didn't see them before I opened the door to let the dogs out, and then it was UH OH as a bunch of them flew in the house.  I think I caught about 8 (glass cup and sheet of paper one at a time and then released outside).

Hello Bill (and Liz too) - focused activity in the right ways can allow the buzziness of real estate practice to produce a sweet sense of accomplishment.  The same is true for everyday life.

I definitely like getting a call that I know is the result of past work.

Good morning Bill,

It always amazes me what we learn from Mother Nature! What a great analogy! Every agent should concentrate on how they can handle the buzz they want to create! It's important to create it authentically!

Dorie, definitely.  Forced buzz just doesn't have the same value IMO as buzz bought and paid for.

Yeah, I do think sometimes we can try too hard or expect too much but ultimately we’re all doing the best we can.

Hi Bill,
The bees sure know how to market themselves... free samples and word of mouth! I tried to do the same in my business.

What the heck happened to humans?  What a wonderful world if we were more like bees.  I loved the short video you posted on FB.

I hung those two bags again today and they were right back to work on them.  And as night falls the moths are all over them too.

George, that's what I love about evergreen posts and IDX pages.  They keep working even when I don't produce the same level of content as in years past.

Hello, Liz and Bill. This is a brilliant analogy. The idea of both getting and giving "the buzz" is so true in our business. After 25 years in Big Bear Lake, I've found my favorite way to generate buzz is through positive past client reviews and word-of-mouth. Thanks for sharing your honey harvest story!

Busy Bees!  Bill I had to smile when I read your post today.  There is a new local chain of child day care centers called Busy Bees.  And whenever I go by one of them - I think - what a perfect name for a kids place! And as for being one myself.....yup.  Guilty!  I grew up in a family of busy bees and we learned how to make things BUZZ!
