Much has been written that AI is replacing jobs...and it is undeniable that it is! However this is only half of the story. AI is also adding jobs - good jobs, high paying jobs in tech departments and human oversight. These jobs pay well and do not require a ton of training or education. A Bachelor's degree is frequently not required.
Over the past 6 days, my tech staff and I were training students of all ages....20's to 80's on utilizing Generative AI and Agentic AI. We reviewed app building, marketing and other functions and most grasped the issues pretty quickly. There were PhDs, former rock band guitarists and many others from diverse backgrounds. So the point is that everyone can learn this.

One ironical recent AI employment incident is worth noting. SalesForce is a major tech company. SalesForce just laid off FOUR THOUSAND tech support jobs. The funny/not so funny aspect of this is that it was agentic AI that determined that 4,000 out of 9,000 tech support staff could be replaced by AI!!
Agentic AI suggested that the firm could reduce the support staff could be trimmed by close to half!! AI utilized itself to create additional functionality for it!!! Who knows, maybe AI is human after all!!!
I prefer to look at the reality of AI replacing jobs as a shift in job function. As the US of A shifted from a manufacturing nation to a service nation, many jobs were lost during this transition too. Is it a zero sum gain?? Probably not but it is a shift and teh nation survived many business shifts during our existence.
