This Week…Peace and Gratitude
Today is the International Day of Peace and World Gratitude Day.

Peace cannot be kept by force;
it can only be achieved by understanding.
Albert Einstein
The idea of World Gratitude Day took hold in 1965 in the Meditation Room of the United Nations during a Thanksgiving Dinner.

International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations.
It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it.
Eleanor Roosevelt
The theme for this year’s International Day of Peace is Act Now For a Peaceful World.

What does this have to do with you and me?
In the big scheme of things, our actions may not be the piece of the puzzle that finally brings about world peace.
When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.
Gilbert K. Chesterton

However, just as a tiny pebble creates ripples in a vast pond, I believe every small expression of gratitude sends out a positive effect within our personal sphere.
That sphere touches others, and who knows where it goes from there. The point is, we can commit to spreading kindness and goodwill in everything we do.
Commit to finding inner peace. Be happy with yourself. Like yourself. Surround yourself with the people and places that bring you peace.

I don't have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness - it's right in front of me if I'm paying attention and practicing gratitude.
Brene Brown
Learn to focus on the good in your life and in others. Being grateful opens you up to seeing the good in others.
Inner peace and gratitude…they go hand in hand.

Wishing you a weekend full of peace and gratitude!
