Let's Go Fly A Kite!

Just up the block from my home is a beautiful open area that is perfect for kite flying as long as the predominant wind is out of the West (North or South doesn't matter).

I wish I would have stopped and visited but my Bride had a mission: get groceries at Walmart.

When we first drove by there was only one up in the air at the time. I'd like to know how many ended up flying for this "Kite Fest". I did notice that there were just as many women holding the strings as there were men. This picture also explains why a Easterly wind would be a disaster.

Prior to seeing these kites I heard something directly over my head as I stood in my front yard.

I usually see the Applebees balloon once or twice a year. It's always a welcome site and someday I'll take a ride in it (I have two friends that cook at Applebees).

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? Hello Bob - Holding a kite while managing it in windy conditions is one thing but riding in a balloon is something else.  Okay, go ahead - I have no desire to fly in a balloon.

Good morning Nina Hollander, Broker . I believe my first successful kite flight was when I was a teen. I loved it and bought over a 1,000' of string. It was really cool to see it fly so far yet still have control over it. I don't remember flying another one since.

It's been a long time since I last flew a kite, or even seen someone else flying a kite for that matter, haha.  I have never been in a hot air balloon, and I doubt that I ever will be, haha.

Bob "RealMan" Timm - there is something about kits and balloons (all types of both) that brings out the kids in us. Here's a funny story you might enjoy. A long time ago I was a Girl Scout Leader and ordered 12 kites and explained what they were going to be used for. The company ended up sending me 12 dozen boxes with 12 kites in each box to have for the Girl Scouts! Now that was a generous donation and so much fun for my girls for many years!
