When Other Forces Know What to do to Get your Attention
The Monthly Challenges on ActiveRain are a throwback to the early days when the platform was not only trying to teach us how to blog but also generating activity to increase its numbers.
There were also the Rain Camps, which were high-powered presentations that afforded great presentations and a chance to meet Rainers in person.
The Raincamps are not likely to ever happen again for a number of reasons.
What was spooky was the Cloud where my photos are stored sent me a memory jog.
Up came a photo taken at RainCamp in Washington, DC, showing myself standing next to Lenn Harley and Pat Kennedy
This was a special Camp as they platform was honoring the first 1,000,000-point member in Lenn Harley
For so many years, Lenn was THE blog expert on the platform, and a staunch defender of copyright infringement. In fact, I got a call from her one day asking about a photo I had used in a blog. It was a photo that she had made specifically for one of her posts and I had gotten a copy of it off of one of the online clipart sites.
Yes, I had given it acknowledgement, but Lenn wanted details as she was getting legal involved.
As happens when we talk to fellow Rainers, conversation is easy and flows and of course there are references to other bloggers and their styles.
I did go into the social sites and saw that as recently as 2022 someone had posted on her Facebook page that Lenn is fine but no longer gets onto her computer.
A few other Rainers came up in the archives, and I recently reached out to one of them to wish them a Happy Birthday. The Cary, Apex area of North Carolina features many homes with unique roof adornments.
This is a post put together due to the universe reminding the writer that even though the life is hectic, ActiveRain was an integral part of the business before tossing in the towel.
