Don't Eat The Leaves

Fall, eat it up... but not the leaves. Just for the fact that Fall leads to Winter I've always hated Fall. That attitude has been waning over the last few years as my eyes have been focusing more on the beauty of Fall and my appreciation that it is Fall and NOT Winter. This Fall has been exceptional as it's still in the 80's (as of October 2nd). Typically the trees downtown have lost their leaves and the decorative planters have been removed by now but here is a picture I took less than 10 minutes ago.

September was the 7th warmest of all time for Minot ND and believe me, I appreciate it. I am still aware that Winter could strike any given hour but until it does I'll seize the day.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Just so I get it straight, winter is the time of year when it only gets into the 70s...right? Once hurricane season is in the past, winter is my favorite time of year.

I'm not sure I could get used to just one season all year long Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty but if our winters were cut in half I could learn to love that. 😉

Bob "RealMan" Timm wrong person to ask, Bob, as I don't plant anything! But we have pots of pansies everywhere during the winter.

I know I would appreciate that Nina Hollander, Broker . Does that also mean that you can plant them at any time of the year?

Hello, Bob. Eighty degrees in Minot, ND, on October 2nd sounds fantastic! Living in a high-altitude mountain town, I completely understand the appreciation for seizing every last day of beautiful, warm fall weather before winter arrives. Maximizing the outdoor season is key to local quality of life and business. Enjoy the bonus time before the cold winds and snow that you know are right around the corner! Great attitude!

Amen to all you've said Dennis Neal . The weather guessers are predicting normal temps (60's) on Sunday which may feel a little cool now but I'm happy as long as the "S" word is not in the forecast.

Glad to hear you are having summer-like temps in the Fall in North Dakota!  I visited ND many years ago (in the 80s) and it is such a pretty state!  I saw many alfalfa fields!  Stayed in a town called Langdon.  Great memories.  Enjoy the Fall!

I am familiar with Langdon Kelly McGovern . My sister had a friend there named Marilynn Roder. She was the most beautiful woman (girl) I had seen back in the day.

North Dakota is indeed a beautiful State from the Red River in the East to the Badlands in the West. There are many interesting points in between including The Great Plains. If you evert come through again I hope you stop in Minot and say Hi!

Hello Bob I figure I need to mow the lawn 4 more time then storage it and get the snowblower out of storage.

Normally we would have put the lawn mower away a month ago Will Hamm because normally the lawn has all burnt up and gone dormant by now. I'm figuring we will mow 2 more times yet. The snow throwers are close at hand. I purchased one, battery operated, this summer that I am hoping works out well. It's the same brand as our mower so I can swap batteries out of one to the other.

Good afternoon Bob,

Fall is a wonderful transition time from summer to winter. We don't see the wide swing you do but if I were you I'd be enjoying every wonderful Fall moment because you are right Winter could strike at any second!

Well I changed my photo just for you Bob!  I love the 'idea' of fall but of course here in PHX we don't really get fall weather.  Your photo looks like a street in PHX right now and pretty much all year round.    And hey......I do understand the 'winter thing' being raised in cold MN.  Brrrrr.
