If you have not checked-out the new "ActiveRain Zoom Challenge" you need to, because it is an easy way to pick-up some quick AR Points. First if you attend the ActiveRain Weekly ZOOM Meeting from start to finish every Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. EST, from now until the end of the year, you will be awarded 500 points every week you attend. Second if you do the assignment given at the end of the meeting for that week, you will be awarded another 500 point. That is an easy 1,000 points!!!
The challenged started this past Tuesday, and the assignment for this week was to write a blog describing the type of podcast we would do if we have or started one. I don't presently have a podcast, but if I was to do one it would be on a topic that I feel very strongly about, "Elections and Voting".
Voting is a right and great privilege we have that is often taken for granted. Many have given their life serving our Country for us to have the right to vote to elect those who govern our cities, states, and country. This is also a topic close to me, because I have been involved in running elections for over 40 years. First as a Moderator at a polling district, then as the Head Moderator for my town, and now as the Republican Registrar of Voters for my town.
In the town I live in, Middletown, CT. we can expect a 30%-35% of our registered voters to vote in our Municipal Elections, about 50% in our State Elections, and about 75% in Federal Elections. This is shameful in my opinion. There is no reason why EVERY voter should not vote in EVERY election.
So my podcast would focus on:
- Why it is important to vote.
- Explaining the Election Process.
- The different positions, and number of workers it takes to run an election.
- What takes place before an election.
- What takes place after an election.
- Discuss ways to improve the election process.
- Why every election has an important element to it.
- Encourage residents to vote.
- Encourage residents to get involved in elections
- Provide an opportunity for Elected Officials to explain what they do.
Each podcast would be about an hour long, and I would take phone calls from those listening.
I had not thought about doing a podcast before this assignment, but now that I have written this blog it is something I should seriously consider doing.
