Regional Housing Market Trends September Of 2025

On October 2, 2025, Realtor.com reported the active listing inventory of homes in the Midwest higher 13.2% in September of 2025 from September of 2024; while new listed homes up 2.4% in September of 2025 from September of 2024. The median list price of a home unchanged 0.0% in September of 2025 from September of 2024, and houses stayed 3 days more in the market in September of 2025, from September of 2024 in the Midwest.

The active listing inventory of homes in the Northeast gained 10.1% in September of 2025 from September of 2024; while new listed homes grew 1.3% in September of 2025 from September of 2024. The median list price of a home declined 0.4% in September of 2025 from September of 2024, and houses stayed 1 day more in the market in September of 2025, from September of 2024 in the Northeast.

The active listing inventory of homes in the South rose 17.9% in September of 2025 from September of 2024; while new listed homes decreased 3.5% in September of 2025 from September of 2024. The median list price of a home lower 0.4% in September of 2025 from September of 2024, and houses stayed 8 days more in the market in September of 2025, from September of 2024 in the South.

The active listing inventory of homes in the West jumped 21.1% in September of 2025 from September of 2024; while new listed homes lower 0.1% in September of 2025 from September of 2024. The median list price of a home dropped 3.6% in September of 2025 from September of 2024, and houses stayed 10 days more in the market in September of 2025, from September of 2024 in the West.
