Over he years I have heard that people think 50,000 thoughts per day. That is a big number and Queens University in Canada says we may as much as 70,000 thoughts. I have also heard that 95% of todays thoughts are the same thoughts we thought yesterday.
If we want to change anything in our life be it better health, success, or abundance then we need to examine and change our thoughts. To write positive affirmations and then think many unproductive thoughts during the day will not yield a positive outcome. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind" is a phrase from the Bible.
Complete renewing of the mind will take focus, discipline, and effort but the rewards are great. A good book to study is You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the book.
The idea of having exactly 6,500 thoughts per day is not supported by scientific evidence; instead, research suggests the average human has around 6,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day, with a 2020 study by Queen's University indicating the average person has more than 6,000 thoughts daily, detected by tracking new brain activity patterns. The quality and nature of thoughts, rather than the precise number, are more significant for overall well-being.
