50,000 Thoughts per Day ? Really ?

By

Over he years I have heard that people think 50,000 thoughts per day. That is a big number and Queens University in Canada says we may as much as 70,000 thoughts. I have also heard that 95% of todays thoughts are the same thoughts we thought yesterday.

If we want to change anything in our life be it better health, success, or abundance then we need to examine and change our thoughts. To write positive affirmations and then think many unproductive thoughts during the day will not yield a positive outcome. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind" is a phrase from the Bible.

Complete renewing of the mind will take focus, discipline, and effort but the rewards are great. A good book to study is You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the book.

The idea of having exactly 6,500 thoughts per day is not supported by scientific evidence; instead, research suggests the average human has around 6,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day, with a 2020 study by Queen's University indicating the average person has more than 6,000 thoughts daily, detected by tracking new brain activity patterns. The quality and nature of thoughts, rather than the precise number, are more significant for overall well-being.

Doug Jones Wow, now it's 50,001 because you brought this to my attention!  That's a lot!  I know I do quite a bit of multitasking, which is a huge contributor to this fact. Louise Hay was a wonderful author and speaker.  Loads of her speeches on YouTube!

How ever many thoughts we have, I know it's a lot. You can tell by paying attention to how you get from one thought to a seemingly unrelated thought. It's actually all related!

The Buddhist always talk about 'no thought'. That seems to happen to me when I go into a room and ask 'Why did I come in here?" I think the answer is because between the cause thought and the arrival to the room maybe hundreds of thoughts have invaded us..Thoughts SEEM to come from no where

I have read 'Creative Mind receives our Thought and CANNOT
stop creating. It must always be creating for us -- our responsibility is to make sure our thoughts are in the direction we really want to go

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

That is such an eye-opening perspective, Doug Jones, and what a truly humbling thought that up to 95% of today's thoughts are just yesterday's leftovers! It really underscores how much discipline and deliberate effort it takes to renew the mind and make positive affirmations actually stick. Thanks for sharing this excellent reminder that quality absolutely trumps quantity when it comes to the thoughts we let run the show.
