Progress is being made on North Dakota's Military Museum. The site is currently being prepared on the Capitol Grounds in Bismarck ND. The ND State Legislature has approved $39,000,00 in seed money and an additional $78 million will be needed to reach the projected goal to get the museum open in 2027.

The men of North Dakota have a rich and diverse military history. It will be nice to honor all those North Dakotans who have served with this new museum.

On a personal note I believe that every generation of the Timm family has had at least one member in the military. Most recently, my daughter served in the Air Force for 6 years. My dad served in the Coast Guard during WWII ( a scrawny boy who had to drink several malts to make the weight minimum). A fun note: North Dakota had a Coast Guard base in the heart of ND. This base could not possibly have been placed any further for the ocean that it was. Also a fun note, it was located in a slew. I had a hard time finding information on this base until I found this URL.

Hmm, that makes me wonder if Arizona has a military museum, and if so, where is it, haha. I have been to some sort of military museum down in Tucson, but I think it was just planes, so more so of an Air Force specific museum.

Minot has a couple of military honor sites but not a military museum so to say Brian England . Close to my home (a matter of yards) is a medal of honor memorial and then there is a historical museum that has a small portion dedicated to the military.

Good morning, Bob... that's an interesting bit of trivia that the Coast Guard had a base in a land-locked state! With so much money being invested in this museum, it will hopefully be a true standout.

As mentioned my Dad was a North Dakota boy and he served in the Coast Guard. I do find it amusing that he never did learn to swim even though he was assigned a ship near the Philippians. The base in North Dakota was a communications base which really did make sense Dorie Dillard Austin TX being it's about equal distance between shores and that the enemy would have a hard time knocking out the communications.
