Journaling & Serious Reflections for 10/12/2025

Resilience Through Personal Choices is an inevitable part of life, and how we face them shapes our character and future. My approach to overcoming obstacles today is deeply rooted in the experiences and values I cultivated while building my real estate career. The journey was never just about material achievements or being the Top Producer.  It was about developing resilience, making thoughtful choices, and finding meaning in helping others.

The Importance of Resilience is the backbone of personal and professional growth. In real estate, as in life, the market fluctuates, deals may or may not come to fruition, and relationships are tested. I learned early on that success is not measured by the things I own or the accolades I receive, but by my ability to start over. Making deliberate choices, especially when circumstances were challenging, helped me cultivate inner strength and adaptability.

Navigating Loose Ends and New Beginnings. One of the most significant transitions in my career was closing my business. This process brought a wave of loose ends to tie up, and responsibilities to resolve. More importantly, it opened the door to a host of new challenges: redefining my identity outside of work, seeking new opportunities, and confronting uncertainty. The experience taught me that endings are not failures, but opportunities for continuous growth and reinvention.

Building Trust and Staying Stress-Free. In today’s world, trust is a cornerstone of meaningful relationships, both professionally and personally. I have learned to build trust by showing integrity, being transparent, and following through on my promises and commitments. In doing so, I strive to remain stress-free, knowing that I have acted in good faith and given my best. The satisfaction of helping others, whether through guidance, support, or simply listening, is more rewarding than any material success.

Acceptance and Self-Compassion. Texas real estate is a Title State, not an Attorney State.  Agents have different rules for state compliance.  I stay grounded by doing the right thing. Time will tell whether or not I keep my license active and current or inactive and let go.  I have come to accept that differing opinions are natural. The market goes up; the market goes down. My worth is not defined by the judgments of others. I remind myself that people are not gods on earth, hearsay is bad, and perfection is unattainable.

A Final Reflection. Facing personal challenges today is a continuation of the lessons I learned while building my real estate career. Resilience, trust, and self-acceptance provide a foundation for navigating change and uncertainty. Ultimately, what matters is not what I possess or achieve, but how I choose to respond to life’s trials and how I strive to make a positive impact on those around me. There always has and always will be decisions to make. The bottom line is you have to stay healthy and happy.

Kathy Schowe - How wonderful it is to know that I hesitated to post this one that I wrote yesterday but wasn't sure it was what readers wanted to read. I put in in Draft and when I read it over again this morning, I thought maybe someone who really needs it now will read it because it means something to them.

Thank you, Kathy. You made my day!

Hello Patricia - the ability to stay focused and stick to what motivates you is a strong contributor to the possibility of achievement of one's goal (or goals).  Striving for success is not obviously guaranteed but it's part of an overall plan.

Michael Jacobs - you always find thoughtful ways to comment on my blog post. I greatly appreciate your kindness and the words you choose. I have learned that success doesn't always achieve happiness. Nor does being happy attain success. Staying focused without boredom keeps me away from feeling bitter and out of touch. Life is only dull, if that's the path we choose.

I am grateful that you are a member of ActiveRain.

Patricia, how we face and navigate our challenges do define us, or changes us.

Hi Patricia- isn't it a shame that many of us don't "get this" until we are older!?  If we can accept who we are...own it, then it frees us to be more accepting of others.  If you wonder what to do...you do what you know is right.

Kathy Streib -I'm sorry I couldn't respond to your comment until now. I had really important business to take care of which kept me off ActiveRain. It was outside of my control, and nothing personal.

Your comment was GREAT!

Good morning! I took a workshop years ago and one of the things I remember was the saying that There is no such thing as perfect - instead we should always strive for excellence. I like that thought!

Kat Palmiotti - I realized long ago, I'm a far cry from perfection. Striving for excellence is doable for anyone, if they try. Sorry I couldn't reply until now. Like I said, I'm not perfect.

Hello Friend!  I have gone through similar changes in my life.  Real estate is in my rear view and life is much simpler.  Now my focus is on enjoying what life has to offer and taking time to connect with those I love.

Hello Belinda Spillman - I really like your new profile picture! You look like a brand-new Professional - very stylish and of course beautiful!

I'm really learning a lot about myself these days. Getting off the Real Estate Merry-Go-Round and all the Roller Coasters has settled my soul and I think more clearly about life in general. It's amazing what I think about today that's very important that I neglected to think about when my focus was on other people I represented and other people in the business. As you so perfectly said, "Real Estate is in my rear view and life is much simpler." Thank you, my friend for your wonderful comment. It means a lot to me to read it.

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

That's a beautifully thoughtful and humbling reflection on life and work Patricia Feager. It proves that true success is actually measured by resilience and the choice to act with integrity. You’ve perfectly shown that self-acceptance and focusing on making a positive impact provide the essential foundation for navigating any challenge life throws at you.

Lew Corcoran - your comment touched my heart. Thank you. It took stepping away to discover who I am and what's really important for me to take care of that has been neglected. Although most of my business was repeat business or referrals, I also know that the goal of other people is to get their needs met and the faster I made it happen, and the more I pored my time into their lives, or their benefit, the better my chances would be to get more business. Well, I'm off the merry-go-round and roller coasters. I'm discovering more than I ever imagined. Sometimes when we neglect taking care of our own needs, we lose sight about what we are living for.
