Moving into Fall in Watertown Connecticut 2025-3

There was very little change in the colors this past week. The dry spell continues, and the temps are still mild.

We are going to have a lot of rain for the next 2 days which may drop the leaves before they reach full color,  When I take my photos this week it will be interesting.

Looking at the hill beyond the course, it would be ablaze with color yet still is relatively colorless.

The 11 fairway is still not showing its splendor.

The 13th fairway is similar with a lot of green still on the limbs.

In past years, the trees on the bottom side of the 17 fairway would provide a backdrop for the reds of the maple in the foreground.

The long par 5,  15 fairway has always been spectacular and I have used this shot on my screensaver on my computer for its splendid vista.

This year the leaves have dropped already on many of the trees.

The only positive to fall this year are the abundance of acorns for the critters to store for the winter.

Hello Ed - the subtleness of change is noticed in the nuances we observe.

Good morning, Ed... I love the fall colors and we do get them in Charlotte. Some years we don't and I always miss them those years. My maple tree in front of my home is still all green... patiently waiting for the reds and oranges.

Nina Hollander, Broker  The colors are way behind this year and with the storm of the past 2 days they may not come out at all.

We were in NY (near Albany) last weekend and the colors were underwhelming!

Kat Palmiotti  I can understand that.

We were driving back from south Jersey Friday and I ty to avoid the 95 run over the GW bridge by using the Palisades PKWY.

The colors there were spectacular and there was too much traffic for me to stoop and tke a few shots.

Good morning Ed. Many of the trees in my development are on their own schedule and displaying rich fall colors but most trees are holding back. So today we are off to the country to see some rich fall colors. Hit them straight and play as long as the weather holds out.

It's always neat to see the changes begin to happen and watch them all the way through their progression!

Brian England   I will show the progression but it may not be as colorful as previous years.

Good morning Ed,

The fall colors of the leaves is what I miss at this time of year. I always love to see the photos of the transformation of the leaves..growing up in upstate NY we always had the most brilliant fall colors!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX  The hills in upstate NY offer many vistas to appreciate the colors. This year may not be that good, however

I love watching the color of fall to shine and look forward to your photos Ed.  We've had so much rain here lately.  I heard this morning more rain since the late 1800's.  That's a LOT of rain for us.  A lot of flooding going on.  Thankfully we're just fine.

Agreed Ed!  Except one town outside of PHX has been badly flooded - twice now in 2 weeks.  Almost the entire downtown is damaged and businesses are closed.  Very sad situation for them.  And holy smokes Tempe got a micro burst yesterday afternoon and so many trees and poles were knocked down.  It's a mess over there.  We had that happen once on our side of the mountain 15 or so years ago and we were almost flooded out on 3 sides of the house.  Thankfully that never happened again as we got a fantastic gutter system installed.

Anna "Banana" Kruchten  that may not be a bad thing as it can replenish the water reserves that have been beaten so badly the past few years because of fires.

Ed around here the colors are far below what we expect.  In fact, the trees seem to be losing their leaves before there is much of a noticeable change.

George Souto   it has been a very different type of fall so far.

Hi Ed:

Sounds like the fall colors are lagging behind a bit this year. Is that due to the weather conditions?
