Yesterday, October 11, 2025, was a quiet day of celebration for me. I planned to do a little of this and a little of that, and complete the Zoom homework assignment for the week.
Just as I parked myself on my couch, ready to just relax and chill for the balance of the day, my phone alerted me to a text message. The message read:
"If I have the wrong day, I apologize. Otherwise, congratulations on this day."
The message was followed by a Grok video of a woman with short hair crossing a finish line, holding a bottle of champagne. The banner reads: "You inspire all."

I took a moment, my thoughts racing. You have got to be kidding me, as tears rolled down my face.
October 11, 2025, was my 13th cancer-free anniversary.
And Kathy Streib remembered!
There is no expectation that anyone remember or celebrate the gift I was given to kick cancer in the arse! To receive the message from Kathy Streib made my heart swell with such joy. I mean, seriously! As I write this, I am still smiling.
I picked up my phone and called Kathy - I could not hold my emotions back as I shared how much her text and video meant to me. Kathy exemplifies the impact of "small acts of kindness" - Kathy made my day!
We chatted about this and that as we typically do. I could talk with Kathy for hours. I asked Kathy if she would make a veggie pot pie. She said she would. And I know she would and deliver it to me if only we lived close.
Kathy said, I will be celebrating 10-11-2026 with you on your 14th Anniversary.

Many of us "old timers" here in the ActiveRain Community have posted about the connections we've made and the friendships we created, often with people we have not met face to face. It is something to experience and can not truly be translated into words. It is something the heart feels from connecting in such a special way. Kathy has consistently shown who she is - never wavering - she is real through and through. She is a kind and gracious person with a loving heart and soul.
