Buying a home is the most expensive purchase anyone will ever make, and delivering the correct facts during a home buying process is critical.
When we first obtain our real estate license, there are MANY things we will not know, but rather than answering with "something", it is best to say -- "that is a great question, but can I get back to you on that!" The clients will trust and believe in you much more than if they find your "answer" was not right.
Even after years in the business there will questions in which we may need to do some research on prior to answering, and that is normal. Clients would much prefer to the get the CORRECT FACTS and wait for them than hear an answer that is incorrect.
Even after years in the business we see unusual things that you have to shake your head, then I say - that is a new one, haven't seen that before. I had a home that tested positive for Meth, and had NEVER had that happen before. Definitely had to get some facts before answering anything on that! It all worked out, and it closed, but definitely could not randomly answer until the facts were known.
It is OK not to know EVERYTHING, the clients will believe in you more if you tell them you will get back to them with an answer!
