Scary season is upon us, and no one does Halloween quite like Austin! From haunted houses to pumpkin wonderlands, the Capital City knows how to bring the chills, thrills, and just the right amount of weird. (It’s no surprise Austin was named one of the most haunted cities in the U.S. last year!)

So, if you’re brave enough to embrace the spooky spirit, here are some of Austin’s best Halloween haunts and happenings you won’t want to miss, that is, if you’re not a scaredy-cat…

Pumpkin Nights
Now–Sunday, Nov. 2 | Times vary | Pioneer Farms | $22+
Step into a glowing world of over 7,500 hand-carved pumpkins! Wander through a half-mile trail of dazzling sculptures and whimsical displays that bring fall to life. It’s family-friendly, photo-worthy, and full of pumpkin spice magic.

Uhland Fall Fest
Now–Sunday, Nov. 2 | 10 a.m.–7 p.m. | 2400 Cotton Gin Rd. | $20+
Celebrate all things autumn at this lively outdoor festival! Each weekend features a new theme like “Pioneer Palooza” or “Butterfly Jubilee.” Expect music, crafts, food, and plenty of small-town Texas charm.

Austin Ghost Tours
Year-round | Times vary | Locations vary | $30+
Want to meet Austin’s most restless residents? Choose from two adults-only tours or one for all ages as you uncover the city’s haunted history, eerie legends, and ghostly tales that still echo through downtown.

Boo at the Zoo
Friday, Oct. 17–Saturday, Oct. 25 | 5:45–8:45 p.m. | Austin Zoo | $24
Perfect for little ghouls and goblins! Visit the animals after dark, hop on a spooky train ride, stroll through a haunted mansion, and enjoy a live show. Costumes encouraged for maximum fun!

Disney’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” Light Trail
Now–Sunday, Nov. 30 | 7:30–11 p.m. | Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center | $31+
Take a moonlit stroll through a glowing wonderland inspired by Tim Burton’s beloved classic. Meet your favorite characters, snap some magical photos, and immerse yourself in the hauntingly beautiful lights.

Bat City Scaregrounds
Now–Saturday, Nov. 1 | Times vary | 14101 S. Turnersville Rd. | $28+
Three haunted attractions. One terrifying location. Do you dare to enter? Expect heart-pounding scares, immersive sets, and plenty of jump-worthy moments. Bring your courage, you’ll need it!

House of Torment
Now–Sunday, Nov. 9 | Times vary | 2632 Ridgepoint Dr. | $20+
Austin’s most legendary haunted house is back — and it’s not for the faint of heart! Voted one of the best haunted attractions in the country, it promises a night of spine-tingling terror you won’t soon forget.

Whether you’re into pumpkin patches or paranormal activity, Austin has something to keep your October calendar packed with frightful fun.

So grab your costumes, your friends, and maybe a flashlight, it’s time to get your scare on, Austin-style!

Good morning Dorie. At a younger age my wife and I were the leaders of our church jr. high youth group and we created a haunted house with the kids for halloween. Last haunted house my wife ever attended. Have fun if you choose one.

It sounds like a lot of fun Dorie Dillard Austin TX . Halloween once was my favorite fun day but my bride does not participate so the most I do is dress up in case we have trick or treaters.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - there's no doubt about it. Austin is weird and the people are proud of it! The first time I visited 6th Street, I thought to myself. This is weird! That's weird! WOW! That's very weird! What weirdo created that! And I still wonder - how many politicians took foreign dignitaries down 6th Street! I heard the Bush girls had fun in Austin.

I don't like being scared, so I shy away from haunted houses, but I see plenty of events in that list that I know I would enjoy attending!
