Journaling for Friday 10/23/2025

Embrace Freedom: Birds symbolize freedom, not just in their ability to fly but in their spirit. They teach us that true freedom comes from within and that we should strive to be ourselves without constraints.

Mindfulness and Patience: Birds teach us to honor the natural cycles of life. By observing their behaviors, we can learn the value of patience and the importance of being present in the moment, rather than rushing through life.

Community and Cooperation: Many bird species thrive in flocks, highlighting the importance of community and collaboration. They remind us that we are stronger together and that supporting one another is essential for survival.

Stay Strong in a Storm: Birds face storms during their flights, yet they keep going. This is the lesson - Life throws us challenges all the time; but just like the birds, we can be strong and keep going. Storms don't last forever, and brighter skies are ahead.

There are 68 more days in 2025: Let me summarize the meaning behind this post and why I believe is important. We can all learn lessons from birds. It's no different when we sell or sold property. Houses make good investments. Some homeowners will maintain and decorate their home, not just stage to sell, but out of respect for what the home can do for them in the future.  A Seller's house represents the property owner's human journey. To a Buyer it represents a new beginning. They see how they can change a house to make it their own. Being ready, willing, and able to sell a home of your own, means being willing to let it go. Birds don't hang around forever; neither do people. When it is time for me to sell and let go, I want to feel as good about my decisions as I hope the buyers will feel when they buy.

This post was a breath of fresh air, Patricia Feager. Thank you for sharing such thoughtful reflections that blend nature, real estate, and the human spirit. I really appreciated the way you tied birds’ quiet wisdom to the emotional journey of buying and selling a home. It’s not often a blog makes me pause and smile like this one did.

Lew Corcoran - Some of the greatest writers of all time did not have the tools or technology we have today. I always learned best playing outdoors, being in nature, and learning to respect my elders and surroundings. Life is a journey! Sometimes agents and clients get so desperate in trying too hard to reach year-end goals, or the pace at which it takes, they miss important details in the home stretch.

Thank you - I am happy to read your comments.

Hello Patricia - time continues to fly by in many ways as 2025 approaches year end.  The comparison to birds can beckon noticing other signs in nature in action as well as sometimes subtly still.

Patricia, birds, animals, insects, and all other living things work together, and have a natural order of things.  Humans seem to be the only ones who break from that pattern, and yet we are supposed to be the most intelligent.

George Souto - Love your comment! There is nothing to gain by torturing yourself or by torturing victims by breaking the natural progression thinking you're right and everyone else is wrong. Continuously arguing and breaking rank is an assault on intelligence.

Love this, Patricia. Such a great reminder for all of us.

A Seller's house represents the property owner's human journey. To a Buyer it represents a new beginning. They see how they can change a house to make it their own. Being ready, willing, and able to sell a home of your own, means being willing to let it go.

I have to say that I have never paid a lot of attention to birds, but I would admit that if I am sitting around doing nothing, I do enjoy observing them and their actions, haha.

Brian England - sitting around doing nothing can be as exciting or as boring as you want. It sounds like you enjoy observing!

Good morning Patricia. Will never look at birds in flight the same way thanks to you. Always wanted the buyers of homes we sold to like them as much as we did. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin - out of all the photos I took, the one below held my interest the most because pausing to watch the Canadian Geese, I saw the pace and space between the mother and each new bird following in her footsteps. Not a single bird tried to outpace the other while keeping the same amount of space. I found that to be so interesting.

I think we can all draw conclusions about space and pace to the profession of real estate. We know what happens when clients get their feathers ruffled and try to do it alone or begin to listen to others not involved; nor listed between the Buyer/Seller Representation Agreement.

Hi Patricia.
We can all learn a lot from birds, and the animal world in general. I enjoyed using some animals as a theme for letters in my book.

Carol Williams - Good morning! We can learn and teach a lot watching birds or any wildlife. As a stay-at-home mom, I taught my kids about birds, soaring, squirrels, surviving, dogs, protection, cats, independence, etc. Then after I got my degree in Education from the University of Kansas, I helped open up a Head Start school with my friend, also a Teacher. It was my job to teach the pre-schoolers about books and reading. They loved my animal stories with a moral at the end. Then when I transferred to teaching Special Education I also used animals and letters to teach the alphabet and learn about animal behavior. Children learn a lot from the animal world. As for me, I learned about different behaviors, special needs, and most of all patience.

Hello Patricia and Happy Friday!  We love watching 'our' birds and we have so many different kinds in our lush backyard.   There is always something so relaxing and energizing watching them 'do' their thing. Lately we've had a few woodpeckers around which is different.  And that doesn't work if they knocking away on the rafters!  Here's a hawk we had on our back roof.  He was looking for lunch but he fly away when he saw us.

Anna "Banana" Kruchten - there is something majestic about birds. They see a lot of what humans do and know how to get their food by watching. I've always been a bird and animal lover in the wild. A few days ago, I watched Born Free. I'm sure you saw it. Seeing it again gave me additional insights into the animal kingdom.

As for woodpeckers. I'm reminded of one that started pecking in my backyard on a tree. I thought it was cool and LOUD! I did not discourage it. A few years later, I had to chop the tree down because of destruction. The Tree guy told me the woodpecker drills into the tree to warn homeowners of potential ants, termites, or beetles. Or they could be nesting, needing tree sap, or searching for destructive varmints.

I really like that hawk on the rooftop! Look at the size of their claws!!!

Hi Patricia- you're singing my song!!!   Larry and I love the birds we have in our backyard as well as the ones we see on our morning walks. When we lived in FL we were fortunate to be able to learn from many different species of birds...including peacocks.
